Starsan Cleaning Products - *****Star

Five Star Rules of Cleaning and Sanitising......

+ You can only sanitise clean equipment.

+Dirty equipment will always contain bacteria.

+Cleaners ARE NOT sanitisers. Whether alkali or acid, cleaners should not be used as the final procedure.

+Sanitisers ARE NOT cleaners. Sanitising is the final procedure after cleaning or on clean equipment just prior to brewing.

+Cleaning and sanitising can be improved by time and temperature. Allowing longer contact time and/or increasing the temperature of solutions will improve the results.

+Do not overuse chemicals. “More is not better”. It normally requires more water and/or higher temperatures to rinse, and may leave an unwanted residue or just cake on to the equipment. Follow the directions.

+Cleaners and sanitisers must come in contact with 100% of the soils. This means that all blind areas, such as man-way lips or racking arms, must be hand cleaned and sanitised, use of spray balls can be very effective.

+Never add water to chemicals. Always blend cleaning or sanitising chemicals into water.

Get the 1kg and chuck the frozen veg. Just tell Mrs B.i.G you've decided to buy fresh veg from now on

The 2015 will probably be fine. I just prefer to buy the latest harvest if I can. Freshest ingredients making the best beer and all that. Dont forget CML. They dont have postage charges and I'm pretty sure they have fuggles (dont know how much they are though)

Hi, We just recently brought in organic malt for a brewery in Ireland we have yet to add these to our homebrew site, is there a demand for them? If so we can add them... Let me know what you guys think please

I remember we had someone on here calling GEB all sorts of names because his grain came in a GEB branded bag instead of the maltster's own bag, including that they were passing off an inferior malt as a branded one.

He swore black was white that there isn't a single maltster in the country who sells in bags bigger than 25kg and therefore GEB definitely wouldn't be buying in bulk and splitting the gain into smaller amounts in their own bags when the orders came in. The image at the bottom right of the picture in this post proves him completely wrong!

EDIT - this is the thread http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=66178&highlight=Geterbrewed

What's the difference between organic and non organic malts? Is their much price difference (which tbh would be the deal breaker for me)?

I have gone fully organic, taste wise I have noting to report so far as the first batches are still in the fermentors. However, I have also gone sustainable and part of that is sourcing as locally as possible.
