Would you buy a 50L Ace/Klarstein brewer?

Hello Guys,

I'm still torn between the ACE and the GF. But then I noticed that there is a 50L version of the Ace/Klarstein!

I would have to import them myself and just one doesn't make sense. Do you think people would consider paying £420 for a 50L version so as to yield more beer, or better efficiency with higher grain bills for stronger brews? Or is the small one so much of a steal at £320 that £420 for a 50L version is not viable?

To me it seems like a no brainer considering the cost of a 50L Braumeister.

I would, but lifting all that hot grain and water would prove too much for my back (and age)!
But I'm toying with the idea of getting a Grainfather, no need to bend to get to the control panel so it can sit on the floor, however that's a long term prospect at the moment.

Looks like a decent bit of kit. Lifting 15kg of wet grain might be a struggle for some though. The price is certainly appealing but I am wondering why there is only 1 element. Perhaps it's run from a PID.

I have the 30ltr one and I can just about lift the grain bin up and out of the water
due to my ill health but those that can it should be a nice bit of kit
if you drink that much that is

Hi Guys,

When initially looking at bringing these over those were the numbers i was given. I think there were additional costs involved but ive asked if we can get a code to get us closer to the original price projections.

I think its quite difficult to price the machine, essentially its not far off a 50L speidel! But its smaller brother is priced so well i cant see being willing to pay much more than £150 over and above the 30L to get a 50L.

They also have a website www.hopcat.eu - I know this kit is up there pricewise with a grainfather. Would just like to know if anyone has had experience on this bit of kit?

Its a rebadged 'Ace' machine, but the new 50l version.. the standard model has got a loyal and appreciative fan base in here, it looks like its got the same design flaw (imho) popping the controller where you may need to get on your knees and bend low to read/operate..

if the 50l version works as well as the 23l version????

I've corresponded with Hopcat, they tell me that it is made in the same factory in China as the ACE/Klarstien but has a bigger element. It's available for £520 if pre-ordered.

Following various upgrades my brewing capacity is now 40L final volume. Even when I intend to do a smaller batch I end up putting in more ingredients on the premise that it takes the same time to do 23L as it does to do 40L. As shepp says you then end up with a lot of the same beer taking up valuable storage space and you do get fed up with dring the same beer all of the time.

I am seriously thinking of getting a smaller set up so as I can avoid the temptation to go big and have a more varied beer selection.

Ah but you can, direct from Guten the price is about 300 GBP delivered to your door, I bought mine direct as have loads of others. Mine cost 250 GBP direct to my door, ordered on a Friday was delivered Monday for the 40 litre.
