Curious, how does 7G of Columbus make 55 IBU???
Mines coming at 14?
Going to brew in the morning and just baffled????

Ive inputted all the grains and hops and should be 55, but coming in at 14

I find the same with DIY Dog recipes, they get much better hop utilisation than homebrewers get. I'd personally increase the amount of hop to what you need to hit the target IBU.

The recipe drops wort down to 180 then whirlpool.
SO yeah that should up the IBU

Apparently below 80°c doesn't increase ibu's. But I recently did a NEIPA with no additions until steep and that still came out quite bitter.
I would just follow the recipe you have and if your not happy adjust it next time.

You'd also get a more IBU points from a 90 min boil, with the bittering additon at 90 mins too. A lot of commercial brews boil for 90 mins (I dont know if BD do though). DIY dog normally says 'start' in the reciepes doesnt it? So you have no idea if they mean 90 or 60 (or even something else)

They do, but they also state the boil time for the particular beer. So the start addition is the only one we can be certain of with BrewDog.

With this Beavertown recipe, I'd say it looks spot on.

It sounds good, I love the original. It's a good brewery.

Well spotted that my my mistake inputting
Its a 70 min mash and 60 min boil.

This is the original recipe from Beavertown so hopefully should be spot on.

I've just had a pint of this today (£5.30), I didn't know it was that expensive or I wouldn't have ordered as I've never heard of it. Anyway was a nice pint but cloudy and no head on it, I even took it back to ask if it was meant to be like that? Reply was yes. I wouldn't buy again at that price but was ok'ish, my simply pale ale at 35p a pint is much better IMO.

Yeah thats average price.
Usually £2.80 for a 330ml can.
Should have a touch of haze but usually a nice head.
Think you got a bad pint.

Gamma Ray is excellent and Beavertown is a brilliant brewery. Probably the cheapest place to drink in London too. Only open Saturday's though.

I was in Dublin a few weeks ago and have heard nothing but good reports about Gamma Ray,so I ordered a can in a bar in Temple Bar.
6.20 Euros!!!
It was very nice though,so as soon as got home I searched for a recipe and ordered the ingredients and currently have it fermenting. Can`t wait.
It wasn`t the original recipe though,so afterI try it,I`ll follow the original recipe and give that a go.

Out of interest, where did this recipe come from? I haven't seen Beavertown publishing their recipes.

I'm a big fan of this beer, I'd be interested to hear how this turns out.
