It's occurred to me that I use Fuggles in the vast majority of my brews, and I'm brewing bigger and more frequently than ever before, so I'm getting through a lot of 100g vacuum packs of hops.

Has anyone had any experience of trying to buy hops in larger quantities, or is this pretty much out of bounds to any homebrewer (ie, the next step up is too much bulk).

Crossmyloof do them in up to 900g. I haven't bought any but there's a considerable saving to be made compared with buying 100g packs.

You can buy 900g at a time from CML (They have a 10% - code on the forum dicount cheatsheet/

Did not know that, thanks!

Whilst this doesn't immediately get you a large amount of hops, have you considered growing a fuggles plant?

Haha yes actually, am going to buy a couple of rhizomes this winter and see how they do. Would be great to use fresh hops.

Just checked an old price list from Charles Faram and its £12.06 per Kg in 5Kg packs, the price is from Jan 2016 though.

£12.06/kg is a fantastically good price. If it's still anywhere near that I reckon that's what I'll go for.

The way I'm reading @simon12 's post is you'd have to buy 5kg of hops to get that price (or near it) per kg . Thats an awful lot of hops. Perhaps it's time to start flicking through DIY dog?
