I haven't brewed much so far, but this ingredient kit turned out superbly.

I fixed your link since it was broken :thumb:

Might be worth mentioning even though this is a kit I think this thread was intended for beer kits as in pre hopped extract rather than All grain.

Although Good recommendation regardless

£10 for a gallon AG is very expensive though, you can nearly do a 5G for that.

Thanks for fixing my link @Covrich and my bad for NOT reading the whole thread properly!!
As you say £10 is expensive for a 1 gallon batch, but it was a trial which delighted me with how it turned out. Now if some of you kindly folks could give me a grain bill for a 4 or 5 litre batch of Saison I would be very grateful.

Can't believe I haven't posted in this thread before now!

Like others on here my top beer kits list will have changed quite a bit over the years. I used to brew a lot but then had a break of about 3-4 years so it's tricky to remember what I had made back then and what was good.

So many kits on the market now and so many I want to try, need to drink more beer without becoming a complete alchy

Current list:

Wherry - just so consistent and a great session beer.
Festival Summer Golden Glory - beautiful summer pint
Young's American Oaked Rum Ale - currently having a few of these bottled, very much like the Innis and Gun version but possibly even better.
Young's American Mocha Porter - brewed for last Christmas, really enjoyed it over the winter, kept a few bottles back for this year.
Festival Pride of London Porter - dark, malty, everything a porter should be.

I really need to try Youngs AIPA, Bulldog either Raja's or Evil Dog other Bulldog kits I've made have been good too, Cwtch, some of the Beerworks range, the Festival IPA and I really want to do a wheat beer Festival kit looks good there too. Also more Brewferm stuff especially Abjii.

I have made a few, the Coopers Wheat beer was good but by far the best was Hawkshead Lakeland gold. It is a 1 gallon kit though.

Wherry,
Brewferm ipa (not too bitter and more apropriate for dry hopping),
coopers ipa (a bit too bitter but good anyway) (also half can coopers ipa and 1 can unhopped lme(1,5-kg) turned out great.
muntons export stout.
Mangrove Jack Ä°PA (in fact i did it partial mash with some base and caramel malts also dry hopping)
plus those i did also i drank my friend's youngs red indian ale and coopers bootmaker pale ale, they were great too...
Also i want to mention about worse kits i have done
1st Muntons Bock (very weak kit) 2. Mangrove Jack Craft series stout. 3.brewferm orange bock 4.coopers original series stout.

Over the last two to three years I have brewed about 20 different kits, some more than once, some just once.
These include
- Coopers Real Ale, IPA (now discontinued), Brew A IPA, Canadian, both Stouts, English Bitter, Ruby Porter, AuPA, Euro Lager
- John Bull IPA, and Traditional Ale
- Brewmaker IPA
- Festival LL bitter
- Youngs American PA and IPA
- Burton Bridge Bitter
- Wilko Hoppy Copper
- Woodefords Wherry and Sundew
I have found that all one cans need a boost either from steeping grains, a micromash, or a dry hop or hop tea. But they are very good for experimenting once you have found a kit you like. In my case this is Coopers AuPA, which is my go to kit, with a boost of some sort.
I have done several of the Coopers stouts of both sorts, with a boost, and my favourite of the two is the Irish, but only just. Both are ideal from a PB imo.
The Youngs American kits I have done also impressed for a kit, and my personal favourite was the Pale Ale over the IPA, although again there wasn't much in it.
Both Wherry and Sundew kits stuck with the kit yeast and I wasn't all that bothered with the Wherry although many on here do like it. I shan't do either again.
Of the rest I will probably do the Coopers Euro lager again although I'm not normally a lager drinker perhaps with Hallertau rather than Saaz which I added, and the Ruby Porter should make a nice winter ale if brewed short.
And those remaining I won't bother again, just put those down to experience.
Finally I only have two kits I want to try, St Peters Ruby and Betterbrew Czech Pilsner. Perhaps next order?

Must say I am confused - The out of date Werry kit with new yeast stuck-I got it going again and brewed it out to an acceptable strength, but as a beer totally underwhelmed by the taste - so I will not bother with it again also, unless presented with it as a gift God forbid please!

Hmmmmmmmmm not seen many comments on my fav beer kit, but its Muntons Old English. suits me wonderfully lol.
Not tried many others so i would like opinions on a Good Bitter kit. Thanks.

Try stonewall bitter fromYork brewery or their other kit Yorkshire terrier. Both nice.

im off for a tour round york brewery on wednesday as it happens!
any idea if they sell them in house?
I was there a couple of weeks ago.
Tour guide gave a good intro and chat as we went round the brewery, although theres not a great deal to actually see in the brewery itself. Plenty of chance to sample afterwards in the bar, and before if you get there early enough .
No sign of any kits though, although I'm sure if they have them they will be only too keen to flog you a few.
