Putting up their prices because of "adverse" weather conditions. Well ill just tell you to **** right off. The next time it snows I will put my prices up iom my restaurant and you can all **** right off., Eat at home you *****

Taxis don't go up in adverse weather.
The last thing we want is bad weather, it slows everything down, we have stupid excesses on our insurance meaning the slightest knock costs a fortune and we struggle to make ends meet. Try doing it then make an educated comment.
Rant over!

There's always a "Go get 'em Day!" so just be patient. :thumb:

A garage owner once turned over a mate of mine by sticking up his prices during a petrol shortage.

Nearly two years later, having avoided the garage completely, said mate dropped in late at night with the sole intention getting just enough petrol to get to work the next day. He put his cash into the dispensing machine and watched it let him fill the tank of his car for a quid without switching off.

He nipped home, came back with ten stainless steel casks (that he had previously liberated from a nearby pub) and filled all of them for ten quid.

He then went home and mobilised enough friends and relatives to empty the garage's storage tank. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Yep! A real "Go get 'em Day!" for sure! :thumb:

They aren't all spivs. Our heating broke down the other day - oil boiler, rural location, 8pm. Rang a heating engineer, got us to push a few things, try this and that and diagnosed the faulty part over the phone. He said he would be there 7.30 am the next day from 10 miles away. Arrived on time, with part, fitted it, tested and all working within just under an hour. Googling the part its £25 - 30 from the plumbing supplier I know he used, not much cheaper from unknown origin flea bay type of places.

Invoice was for £84 inc VAT. Seriously good value if you ask me.

I've got a call out tomorrow for the usual price.

It's called supply and demand, it's what makes the world go round. When your restaurant is the only one open you can demand a higher price for the food. Until then just be happy you've got running water, and central heating.

When our boiler blew up a few months back, our landlord came out and had a brand, spanking new one fitted within 24hrs. Same with anything which goes wrong. Stuff buying - it's a mug's game. And ye I have been there and done that.

Wouldn’t like to send a steak back to you 😳😳😳😳😳😳
😉

Yes there are rip off merchants out there. There are also decent people. I had a bust central heating pipe in a concrete floor in the wife's shop. The break was at floor level so had to be dug out to be repaired. I use a local company who sent someone straight away. Dug the floor, joined the pipe, filled the system and checked it and repaired the floor. £54. Yes you heard right!

What happens when you can't work and pay your rent anymore?
There is nothing clever about paying someone else's mortgage.

Uber have been known to up their prices when people are trying to leave London after terrorist attacks (in direct contrast to black cab drivers who were taking people away from the zone for free). Anything else pales into insignificance after that.

I recently finished paying my mortgage after 25 years we have had times where we have been on the bones of our arses but I am glad I now own my own home and wouldn't thank you for a rented place.

Have the State pay it, of course! Sometimes wish I'd gone down that road years ago. But I've always paid my way, whether mortgage or rent. The 13 years or so of being a mortgagee were nothing but stress and aggro. Got lucky with an amazing landlord with a great house in a great area and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them. And the rent is buttons!

I wouldn't want to leave myself at the mercy of the state, there will be plenty of incomers taking priority on the housing lists.

Ours is a 'secure' tenancy and they can only hoof us out if we've been Very Bad People so that's of no concern, unless someone takes extreme exception to occasional brewing smells! A while ago I couldn't be arsed to change a leaky tap washer. Not only did they come out within the hour, they fitted brand new taps and sink within the day even though there was nuthin' wrong with 'em. Beat that!

Doesn't your drinks and beverage manager dictate prices?

I set the prices as all good Head Chefs should. The F+B Manager does not have a clue how much food costs and doesnt need to know.

eg ...cost of raw ingredients £1.00 x 3.36 (GP) + 20% VAT = £4.02

So every £1.00 you spend on food you have to charge £4.02

So a breast of chicken comes in a £1.20 (cost) you much charge just short of £5.00 to make GP...and thats just the chicken

On the contarary (sp)...If there is a legit reason for sending food back I will sort it out. I dont have a lot of experience with this. What I will not do is replace something that the customer doesnt like.

Example ... "I dont like the steak, can I have another one?"
"NO, THE NEXT ONE WILL BE EXACTLY THE SAME"

Example...."I dont like the goats cheese and pecan nuts on the chicken, can I have something else?"
"NO, ITS WRITTEN ON THE MENU"

And the best one ever, 10 mins after ordering the customer changes their mind and asks if they can change, dispite the fact that I have already started cooking it.
"YOU CAN, BUT YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR IT".

I could go on and on about customers..........

It sounds like the letting agent is taking a cut from the contractors invoice and stitching up the landlord.
