Quick hello from me.

Joined the forum as looking to move on to all grain brewing after a few years of messing around with kits. I know I'll have a lot of questions along the way (and indeed have some already) so thought I'd jump in here.

Looking to buy a Grainfather setup once I've got some plumbing sorted out in my bar shed, which should only be a few weeks away. Oh, and once it's been signed off by the wife...

I've searched for answers on a few questions I have and found some older threads that almost give me the answer. I assume it is generally preferable to reignite those older threads by posting additional comments (to keep all info in a single place) rather than start a new thread, but let me know if that is frowned upon!

Welcome to the forum

If the existing thread is very old feel free to start a new one.

Hi

Have you bought your grain father yet? I managed to get a new one this week( with connect box) for 609 having followed a thread on here with a forum discount code. This came with a mash kit and a cleaner. Not arrived yet.

Planning to share it with my dad. The excitement levels are immeasurable!!!!

Not yet as still sorting plumbing out in the bar room. Ordered a big deep potwash sink today that I can use for all the cleaning and to act as a water bath with an aquarium heater on the primary ferment.

Think I'll get back into the groove with a couple of kits first (have the Youngs APA on standby) then open up the wallet for the Grainfather. Always had good first ferments on the kits but unfortunately had some issues with leaking pressure barrels that's just making me a bit cautious about spending more money. Reading threads on here has given me some pointers / confidence on this, although also like the idea of using the 5L metal kegs.

I'm excited at the idea of getting a Grainfather, so can only imagine the excitement you must be having of knowing there is one in the post! Not sure I would be that keen on sharing though...
