Today I had a stack of emails from them, confirming orders from months ago that have long since shipped.

I assume they are transferring all the old data from their old system.

More worryingly, they also sent an email confirming my account creation - and the email contained my password, in plain text.

So we know now that they have absolutely no password security at all. And they send out those passwords on the internet equivalent of postcards.

Anyone who has stored payment details on their site, get there now and get the details deleted. Get them to confirm in writing that they hold no secure information about you.

You'd also need to make sure you do not use that username/password combination on any other site that you use.

Their site migration has been a textbook example of how not to do a site migration. They need to hire someone with a basic level of competence in IT, immediately. And fire whoever's currently doing it.

I assume you’ve e-mailed them to let them know?

The only way they will get better and solve these problems is if we tell them.

I've used malt miller's new website this morning. Within about two hours of the order bring confirmed, I had an email saying my order would be with me tomorrow afternoon. Pretty swift service...

But the new website looks a bit unfinished - It looks pretty basic on iPhone

That is worrying. The only comforting this is that you need to re-register now so you can set a new password. It's a wordpress site now setup by an third-party. Not that wordpress isn't without issues, but it doesn't store passwords in plaintext at least

Regarding the 25k in 5k bags. I've ordered these twice now by putting notes on the orders and not been charged, this was on the old Malt miller site. It's much handier.

Ok so further to this - apparently I've requested to have it delivered tomorrow according to DPD. I didn't request anything. Is there any way that a sender can change the delivery day? Or am I thinking too far ahead and DPD are messing me about?

DPD usually send a notification to the receiver that a consignment isn’t due to be delivered. You then usually get the option to change the delivery day by at least one day if required. This is all dependant on the sender putting the receivers details into the DPD system.

Great packaging and excellent labels from MM and dispatched the next day unlike another company i use. Fantastic response to emails unlike another company i use. And they sent me the right stuff unlike another company i use. Their new website does suck though imho opinion preferred the old one. Never used the recipe builder.

Is the 5x5kg bagged option still available?

I sent a message to Malt Miller about this before Christmas but got no reply.
On the new website if you look at "Ingredients" then choose "Base malts" and then choose the malt type you want you will find that you must choose the quantity per bag (500g upwards) - and only when you add that to the basket do you find how much that bag will cost you. And, of course, the cost of 5 bags of 5Kg is now far more expensive than when one purchased 25Kg supplied as 5 x 5kg bags on the old site........................
In my opinion the new website is inferior to the old one for navigability and prices !

I've been looking at some of the products...minimum order 500g...eg £1.60....the 1 kg price is also £1.60.....??

I just had a try with Muntons pilsner Malt.
500g £1.60
1000g £1.60
Still no build your own AG kits?
They are normally a very reliable and polished outfit but the website must be costing them £1000's in lost orders!
Or maybe they don't want the hassle of making up kits anymore

I emailed them about the custom kits and they said they were ironing out some bugs and it should be up in a few weeks.

This was about a week ago.

Glad to hear that, have a few complicated grainbills I need making up and it would be costly having to over order grains I rarely use like crystal rye.

Fortunately I’ve got my next two brews in and the two after that will be simple orders, but I hope they can get the kit function up and running again soon. And that 500g costing the same as a kilo is cheeky, was that the case on the old site?

They need to hurry up or they'll lose customers. I've had to order from Geterbrewed today as there's no sign of the recipe builder going back online.

Same here. I ordered from geterbrewed too. But it was actually a bit cheaper and I didn't need much.

Out of curiosity I've looked at my recent order from MM - the malt bill for what I needed totalled £5.22

Used geterbrewed's recipe creator to price up a similar malt bill (crisp pale subbed for golden promise) and it works out at £3.67!

I only used MM as they had equanot cryo hops and golden promise, but still... Not good value compared to one of their competitors.
