Newbie here so...

I have done couple of mead wines and one fruit juice wine with instructions all gone well..

I have recently put on a 25l sugar wash with alcotec 48 currently waiting for this bad boy to reach around 15%

but my question is I've seen some videos of this and most want to distil but I just want to add flavour after is it as simple as adding a concentrate after or a cordial ? I've seen someone use a soda stream syrup and I've just bought some framboise raspberry syrup that makes 5 litres. is it just the same as flavouring water just add a concentrate to your taste or is there more to it...

I'm talking basic wine here no fancy tasting stuff

Thanks much !

Over the years I've added a variety of syrups to straight sugar washes.

  • Blackcurrant, Pomegranate and Blackberry all make a great 50:50 mix with hot water for a Winter Hot Toddy.
  • Lemon, Peach and Strawberry make great "Long Drinks" when mixed 50:50 with lemonade or tonic.

I prefer to use Tessier or Lowixz syrups and it's a matter of "mixing to taste".

Enjoy! :gulp:

Mixing it with cheap pop and a bit of squash or lime cordial works well. My girlfriend used to call it "Ultimate Booze" because she never got a hangover from it and loved the taste.

I did 12 different batches of Skeeter Pee last year with different sweetners, lemon/lime juices, some carbonated, different yeasts and at the end of the day just jazzing up sugar wash with different mixers got people just as happy but with more choice.

yeah that's what I am going for, I am experimenting with flavours and recipes but I don't want to make things to difficult , I want to try this because its the simplest easiest way to make a flavoured wine and I can try lots of different flavours without waiting for weeks for fruit to ferment..

The main thing I was struggling to comprehend was that can I really just flavour the sugar wash/sugar wine with concentrate like you would with a glass of water (is it really that easy) sounds simple when u say it out loud :)

It's a good idea to filter the wash with carbon - it takes a lot of the unpleasant flavours/impurities out.
I never run out of flavourings to add to make interesting and cheap drinks. (Slush puppy concentrate is really good.)
Adding glycerine to the flavoured wash gives it more mouth feel, and makes it more like a liqueur...

Simple carbon filter I make from two 2l pop bottles with activated carbon. Drill two 0.75mm holes in the bottle top and push a little coffee filter paper into the cap on the inside before adding carbon. The tie wrap around the bottom botttle just stops the top one sliding down too far.

I get the carbon from here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2kg-Prem...105522&hash=item20ed65deca:g:g-wAAOSwBLlVEqod

I also get my glycerol and citric acid from the same company

Neat. :thumb:

Also, that's a great price! It;s about 1/10th of what I pay at my local Pet Shop! :smileyill:

The carbon lasts for ages, I've easily put 50l of errrrmmmm "sugar wash" through before changing the carbon. It also allows you to dilute your errrrrrmmm "Sugar wash" to get the % down with water without it going cloudy.

Flavouring it is the only legal thing you can do with it.

Should if carbon filtered make very "clean" tasting drinks of 15-20%abv.Ideal for parties.
