Im sitting here after a draining day at work having to watch a series on Netflix called 'Grace and Frankie' starring the never ageing Jane Fonda with the misses.

Its starting to dawn on me how long the series has been going for. Apparently theres five series and were just on the third (12 odd episodes each)
Everyone seems to have every other day off, sitting eating and drinking booze during sunny afternoons.

The story is about two wives who befriend eachother due to theyre husbands revelations of 'coming out'.

I cant fault the acting and theres a few odd gags that make me chuckle but overall im gwtting tired of seeing the characters and becoming increasingly more disinterested in what theyre all getting up to.
Basically im bored to tears with it and wondered what tv shows/satire/drama's or films dragged on too long for anyone else?

Does anyone still bother with 'HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU' for instance

No. I used to be a regular viewer years ago, but haven't watched it in ages.
I have just finished watching the last of Spiral series 6 the french detective series, which was recently on TV. I bought the box set series 1-4 and thought it was really good along with series 5 which I watched on TV. This one hasn't quite hit the mark for me and I thought they were shaping up to finish it off, but right at the end the loose ends appear which suggests there will be a series 7. Will I watch it? More than likely.

Have I got news is still brilliant. Often guest dependant but still brilliant in my opinion

I don't do Netflix for the same reason I gave up Sky there is enough **** on TV without paying for it and I don't spend enough time watching to justify the price.

I don't watch much TV with Mrs Tea as our tastes are so far apart, she is into the soaps etc which is great as she gives me no grief about spending a lot of time on my PC, we record stuff we do like and watch it later on in the evening.

We watched the first 8 or 9 episodes of Grace and Frankie then gave up and started watching “Everything sucks” which is much better (although I assume you have to be a child of the 90s, as I am, to really appreciate it!).

As far as programmes that went on too long goes, Benidorm should never have switched to hour long episodes and should have finished when Johnny Vegas left the first time. The first 2 series were comedy gold then it got more and more mediocre and far-fetched until it became unwatchable!

I watched benidorm last night (didn't know it was back on) its now awful.

HIGNFY is great if you watch an episode here and there, and as someone said it's quite depended on the guests. Paul Merton isn't funny and his jokes haven't improved in 20 or so years (or however old the show is).

I used to love It's Always Sunny, but got old around Season 8. The following seasons are terrible and they should have quit whilst they were ahead.

Family Guy as well went on for far too long, as did South Park. Both excellent in their prime but the networks dragging them along like the dead horses they are. I guess same can be said about the Simpsons, which started to wear thin in season 10.

I find British shows are actually better at calling it a day than American ones. A lot of British comedy is only ~3 seasons long and it's enough for a good show; perhaps there isn't such pressure to milk the show for all it's worth.

My wife loves Grace and Frankie too, I feel my brain melt as soon as I start watching it.

I like British classic comedy. Carry On,on the buses, rising damp,Alf Garnet. .etc.
I've been watching the recent reruns of on the buses and rising damp. Also enjoy The Goode Life..
Stuff that should stop...Eastenders and Coronation Street...

Lets face it all the classics were never more than three series and often only six episodes in each.

Often cited as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time Faulty Towers was only 2x6 episodes. Similarly things like Father Ted only three series and 25 episodes total (though if Dermot Morgan (RIP) were still alive there may have been more).

I'd still watch HIGNFY but the missus isn't a huge fan so don't often catch it. When I do I still have a laugh, the Merton Hislop banter is still alive and well.

The BBC often run shows well past their sell-by date. They want to squeeze out the last drop of revenue.
Holby City is one example.

Great stuff. They don't make 'em like that anymore cos they can't... they wouldn't dare in today's ruinous politically-correct climate.

Makes me wonder why they haven't rerun 'Aint Half Hot Mum'. Some of the mainstream stream programs of the past never make it to air these days, yet the programs that were edgy (at the time) are seen as fine now.
