What's the weather like in North West England? I ordered a previously loved copy of Greg Hughes book hoping it would arrive from Amazon before my hols. Disappointed it didn't arrive in time, I'm now worried it will be sat on our back step and facing all the harsh English August climate on its own.

Weather in France has been 36°C for the last few days, no good for brewing, but I fear for my badly timed delivery.

Do you think the book will last until bank holiday?

There's a reason all those cotton mills are clustered around Manchester - it's the rain!

Over the next six days, Manchester has:
  • Friday - 30% to 80% chance of rain for much of the day.
  • Saturday - 50% to 60% chance of showers in the evening.
  • Sunday - 20% to 80% chance of rain all day.
  • Monday - 10% to 60% chance of showers or rain for most of the day.
  • Tuesday - very slight chance of showers.
  • Wednesday - very slight chance of showers.
Amazon usually post things like books inside a black polythene seal-down bag that is pretty immune to rain so a prayer to he "Packaging God" may be in order!

BTW, I usually buy books on my Kindle and there's quite a selection of books with recipes available. Here's one of them if you have a Kindle handy ...

Have a good holiday and don't worry, God looks after us brewers! :thumb:

Now you mention it, many of the 2nd hand books I've ordered previously via Amazon marketplace have been in the plastic envelopes. It is usually new books direct from Amazon that arrive in the flimsy cardboard wrapper. Fingers crossed!

Thanks @Dutto for the weather update. [emoji299]

I did take the liberty of looking for a bargain brewing read on Kindle and bought this for 99p: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DLZPFKQ/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 by James Houston which has been quite informative so far and his passion for his hobby clearly shines through.

Worth more than I paid.

It was pissing down here yesterday, I live just a few miles from Ormskirk.
Hopefully it's poly wrapped as Dutto says. My books from Amazon usually are.

@Mungri, I'm in Ormskirk too (when not on holiday). So I shall hope for poly wrapped.

Thanks.

Well, three weeks later, I have spent a most enjoyable hour perusing recipies in the aforementioned book.

Turned out the parcel had been sent by Royal Mail who couldn't fit it through the letter box. Parcel was taken back to sorting office and despite being well past RM's 18 day limit for redelivery, I was able to pick it up tonight. Cheers!
