Last Sunday I was pottering in the garden. I looked at my steel toes and thought....I'll be ok.

I ended up dropping a small 2x1 slab on my foot. Hurt like hell but wasn't so bad.

Monday cycled to work and back as normal, Tuesday cycled to work as normal but started to feel the pain. Wednesday cycled to work and back as normal.

Wednesday night I ran out of "man up" and after laying awake from midnight till 6 in the morning Thursday asked SWMBO to drive me to A&E.

One x ray later. Chipped phalange and hairline fracture in a metatarsal.

Just got a new bike too. And planned on brewing this weekend!

Still contemplating a brew tomorrow. Jut may do a smaller batch so less chance of me falling over with a boiling pot of wort. Who knew toes were so important for balance until you loose the use of one.

Also. The fracture clinic I got referred to was full of people wearing these boots.

My wife and I put it down to the weather and all the people who must be wearing flip flops n such.

personally I'm a bare foot kinda guy. But shouldve worn those boots.

Lesson learned.

Looks like you won't be running any marathons for a while, how long until you are back on both feet 100% ?

2-6 weeks. But with codiene I expect 2. Ive already spent 3 days cycling and limping on it. Which caused more damage. The boss is picking me up and dropping me off all next week so I should be be to give it some respite.

Moving slabs barefoot...you twit! Hope it gets better soon for you!
I was wearing trainers. The soft flimsy primark type. Had a strimmer in one hand and a slab in the other. Lost my grip. And here we are. I wasn't intending on moving stuff. But again, here we are.

Saturday 4am whilst I was at work, the missus politely asked some neighbours to keep the noise down. She ended up with a black eye, bruised chin and an arm in plaster. She flat refuses to get the police involved for fear of recriminations. What do I do, let it go or invoke my own justice?

Sounds very much like a job for the police that.

That's terrible. Some people just have no respect.

You wouldn't want to end up sinking to their level. Or worse they call the police and have you charged with something.

I know what you are going through Gunge we had a **** who terrorised the other end of our street for several months a while ago no one wanted to confront him as he was an alcoholic, fighter and a right nasty barsteward several calls to the council ended in him being warned several times then eventually moved and of course he had no one to blame, confronting these types is not a good idea as you have found as they have no respect for their neighbours or the law.

Bloody hell what did they do to her?

Punched on the chin and floored her. Being extremely feisty and full of adrenaline she got up to give as good as she got but not quick enough - another punch to the forehead knocked her out and she fell on her wrist, fracturing it, as well as my heart. Things could have gotten really bad at this point but the householder must have come to her senses, gotten frantic and got her 'guests' to leave. That's what I can make of the sequence of events as I wasn't present. The wheels are now in motion to deliver retribution, but I can't go into detail....
Anyway sorry to 'jack the thread, just seemed a good place to put it. I had a problem with my left big toe about five years ago. The fix was to have it broken in hospital as the bones were fusing together. Then pins inserted to keep the bones apart, summat like that. I ended up having 8 weeks off. Had no problem whatsoever since.
