Hi!
I made a California Common with this yeast. Cold crashed and kegged after 2 weeks in the FV although fermentation seemed to be over quickly - it was an experimental open vessel brew. Force carbed and kept keg cool in the fridge. I drank this beer virtually immediately. It didn't last long!
Best brew I've made!

I used it on an Anchor Steam clone. I left it two weeks before cold crashing so don't know if it was quick for me. The beer was tremendous.

A basic Cali Common is incredibly easy to do. 90% pilsner malt, 10% crystal, Northern Brewer to 45IBU.

Probably my favourite beer style to make.

Going to brew a Vienna lager next and think I will replace the usual two packs of lager yeast with this yeast to save a few quid and speed the brew up

What colour crystal is recommended or is whatever you prefer?
I just use medium crystal. I’ve also experimented with adding a bit of rye and Munich but I’ll be back to basics for the next time I make it.

Finally got round to using this yeast, made an rye ipa 50% rye 50% marris otter, hopped with Amarillo.

Thought I would brew it at the top end temp 22C just to spice things up.

Will let you know how it turns out in a few weeks.

Jake

Same for me McQul just used it at 16/17c on a Blonde which is now cold crashing in the garage temps of about 7c

I ordered California Common by mistake (meant to get US Pale). Just trying a first maris/lager/flaked malt with simcoe & plenty of citra brew. I'm liking it. A lot. Fermented out inside 8 days at about 18C. Has carbed & cleared nicely (10 days & 4 days respectively) and poured nice & clear with a thick sludge stuck to the bottom of the bottle. Think I might order this yeast again.

I used this yeast at 22C, in a rye ipa. It’s definitely got some phenolic characteristic to it, not too much, I’m pleased with the outcome.
