I don't see why not.

Some parents who are old enough to vote christen their offspring with such stupid names that they are obviously unsuited for making any major decisions ...

... as I just pointed out to my children Top-deck and Churchyard!

Good to see that he believes that you need to be able to read before being able to vote "which rules out reception age children" Where do they find these people??

Sounds like a grave mistake naming a child Churchyard.
I’ll get my hat.

At a certain stage, as knowledge goes into one ear, common sense gets pushed out the other.

I know someone who actually called their kid Justin.

Parents really seem to go off-piste when it comes to naming their kids!

Marlon Brando said in On The Waterfront "I could have been a contender!" and that could have applied to me for sure!

I was raised in a small mining village in Derbyshire and my Dad (a coalminer) apparently wanted to name me "Silvanus" to complement my sister who is named Sylvia! My Mum protested (everyone else being called by good honest English names) so Dad suggested Victor; until Mum pointed out that the initials "VD" would be mine for life and he decided to leave everything to her!

Mum went for a first name that couldn't be shortened; so fellow school kids called me "Chubby" until I got big enough to dissuade them and they started calling me "Dutto".

I think the first thing a child should be able to vote for is a name change; especially after working with a man who had been christened Hugh Willie by his mis-guided parents!

I stopped reading here -

“What’s the worst that could happen? At least it would be exciting, it would make elections more fun. It is never going to happen in a million years but as a way of capturing just how structurally unbalanced our democracies have become, seriously, why not? Why not six-year-olds?
