I just opened a bottle of bock and it looked a bit odd then left a long slimey thread of beer as I stopped pouring. Guessing this is the ropy effect of pediococus, thought maybe the bottle was an ex-sour bottle but a brewdog bottle on its first re-use is the same. Wonder if it's the whole batch, bit amusing since I deliberately soured the other half of the batch.

Wonder if my wheat beer is going to go the same way, if so it's now fermenter time. Oh, I was probably going to infect my usual FV anyway on Wednesday since I'll be pitching Roeselare blend in primary.
 
Bummer. Oh well, should be interesting come summer.
Yeah, as long as the bottles don't burst... If it is pedio, have to hope for Brett too or they'll just be a mess of diacetyl. Going to be interesting, unfortunately I was too cowardly to try some.
 
One of my mixed fermentation beers went through about 4 months of ropey. Taste stayed fine, but very odd mouth feel. Has since cleaned itself up nicely and I'm looking forward to trying some bottles over the next few weeks!

Thanks for sharing, that looks exactly the same.

The beer smells great, turns out boiling down first runnings to a syrup really does give massive malt aroma. But can't bring myself to taste that... Should come good in a few months, just hope the bottles survive... It was primed to 2.2 vol but FG was 1.020.
 
Brew dog would sell that....with a fancy name on the bottle!

They already are.... sort of. At least, they name checked pediococcus when announcing their sour facility, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have it in their "cher ami" blend which they are using for long term aging. The ropiness will have long conditioned out by the time the beers hit the market though.
