Anybody got a clone recipe for King goblin.
Was thinking scale up the hobgoblin grains to get 6.2 abv and scale the hobgoblin hops up to match.
Any views ?

King goblin was brewed under licence in Belgium and isn't just a scaled up hobgoblin, sorry 'bout that. It was an awesome beer at the time there were not that many good beers in the uk supermarkets. now you can get delerium tremens in tescos and westmalle... etc. it was as i recall much better than leffe bruin.
 
Thanks for that. Been developing one myself. Took all the reviews and as mush info as I can find. It's a great beer and I buy it frequently.
Ive been brewing a while now and think this could be close
Take any feedback you may have tho
Going to brew it in a week or 2 after I get a mosaic smash is in the keg.

After a few 5litre iterations I think I'm close.
ABV: 6.6%
IBU: ≈40
Colour: 23°SRM/45°EBC, dark brown
Grainbill: 90% Pale, 7.5% Crystal Malt, 2% Chocolate Malt, .5% CaraPils/Dextrose Malt
Bittering hops: Fuggles, Sovereign (60 min)
Aroma hops: Cascade, Stryian Goldings (15 min)
Yeast: tried Us05 but Nottingham way better

can you please put up the weights for this ale, as it only says 90% not what I actually put in .

I will be BIAB this brew if it makes any difference to the weights.
Also I will be using it the make a 5 gallon batch.

If i wanted to make this into a partial mash, would it be as simple as substituting the Maris Otter with 3.6kg Malt Extract (presumably dark), keeping the rest of the ingredients the same and following my regular partial mash technique?

I can't get my head around or seem to find a conversion from AG to Partial.

Sorry mate I've no experience of extract brewing. Been an all grainger from the start.

Hi Mavroz I think you should be able to do what you normally do and if you have a copy of the bible at the back I think from memory there is some kind of advise that will help you to convert the amount of Extract to use to attain the same SG. Have a go as with all recipe if the first is not bang on if gives you a really good starting point from then onwards. Good luck

Most partial mashes that are finish around the 23 litre mark use around 3 to 3.5 kg of Malt extract whether that is dry or liquid.
I was just wondering about the amounts of other malts in the mash, whether the quantities would be the same.
In fairness the above recipe amounts look about right for a partial mash with the exception of the Otter which would be substitued.

I have had a trip to the village church and their bible's (new testament) do not have any sort of Extract conversion chart in the back of them, or am i confused?:laugh8:

I am certainly going to give it a go and will report back in due course.

Don't whether to answer that as it could be a wind up but will go for it the bible is a name in most uk forums for the Greg Hughes book "Home brew beer"
