Ok... so I’ve been doing AG for a year now ... and I’m a little late to the party , but started reading the Home Brew Beer book tonight (Xmas present).

Great read.
Great recipes.

Every new brewer should own this, I should have read it sooner .

Can’t wait to do the Cherry Lambic !
And the raspberry wheat beer ... and and and ...

The Raspberry wheat was an absolute beauty when I knocked it up!

Also really enjoyed the Black IPA

I agree, I use this as a good baseline , you can copy it or do your own with this basis of what he gives

Greg Hughes for the easy read and recipes, plus Palmer's How To Brew for the detailed reference and that's a pretty comprehensive library right there.

I got The Pocket Homebrew Handbook by Dave Law and Beshile Grimes as a secret santa present. Very similar format to Greg Hughes but with some slightly different recipes and styles.

Be warned, it is literally like a university level text book on beer science!

yeah like Bezza says it is heavy reading at times and goes into depth of the processes which is good if that is what you want but I would think most people would need something a little lighter in the early days of brewing and save it for later on once the basics and a little more have been grasped

Amazon are listing a new edition coming in september. Maybe it'll be in that one.

I really want to get hold of this but find myself never having time to make the many recipes I already have. Occasionally I'll look for a second hand copy on ebay but there never seems to be one.

I (we) finished drinking this one a few weeks ago. I made if for the misses and it ended up such a good beer I couldnt stop myself having a good few. Shes been bugging me to make it again so planning it on sat evening, going to use a liquid Kolsch yeast and add an extra half kilo of raspberries this time. The colour was also fantastic - took a few weeks to clear but then it was a lovely transparent red.

I cleared a patch in the garden after making mine and planted 5 raspberry canes! SWMBO hasn't stopped asking when the next batch is coming!

Agreed, it's not one for a little light read whilst sitting on the gentleman's throne, but a great resource for the serious brewer. slide rule and calculators at the ready!

Started drinking his Oatmeal Stout yesterday.
Best stout I have made, really rich even though it’s not that strong.
