Best price on a Grainfather Feb 2019

Hi all,

New to the forum (as a member, been following for a while now...).
Pretty set on taking the plunge on a Grainfather (and moving out of my BIAB sparge water heater).

Now that the forum Home Brew Company discount code appears to no longer be working (besides they seem to have raised the price of a GF to ~£695) I was wondering if anyone had a view on what the best deal to be had on a new GF connect might be?

When I checked their site yesterday or Wed they had a sale on. When that happens the code doesn't work. The sale on the items I looked at seems to have ended today so it might be worth trying again.

Why would you want the gf, as opposed to continuing BIAB, genuinely interested, I get the easier brewing days, but is it worth north of £600? I find brew days therapeutic, but I have more free time than most, I have the Klarsetein kettle, and it seems to do most of what I want

Now owning a grainfather, the only two things you get noticibly different are the CFC (which is good) and the Connect control box to do it all from your phone

You should weigh up if you want to spend that much for the two additionals over other similar devices.

I am a happy customer for the record but I do sometimes wonder if it is/was worth the extra beans.

It comes down to a combination of factors, and I don't want to knock BIAB at all as I totally get why the process is enjoyable. Speaking only for myself, I'm very space/time limited, but also, and the HB recipe iteration and improvement interests me more than the actual process. So the all in one systems seem like a more convenient way to hit consistent results and play with my recipes (again, only speaking for myself, fully aware that plenty of BIAB brewers make great and consistent beers).

I suppose that what appealed to me was a that there seems to be an opinion that the build quality is good, the community is very active and supportive, and the after-sales support is very good. The Bluetooth connectivity in more of a nice to have than a deal-maker, but I do like the look of the CFC as well.
I guess I'm still slightly back and forth on this... would be interested to hear what people genuinely think would be the best (or closest to) alternative all-in-one system to the GF?

Unfortunately I just tried this, and no luck.
The Grainfather on Beerhawk is already discounted (down to 675) according to their listing, and the code will not work on discounted products, curious how you managed to get your own code to work, was this off the full price (£750)?

So it looks like the absolute best price to be had is at HBC @ £660 (695 w/ 5% discount) with the free steriliser and mash kit.
Otherwise, if you want to add any extras (i.e. mash paddle, sparge heater) then the GetErBrewed looks the best deal.

Was this the same (connect) model? Makes me slightly cautious of paying this price, if this exact model has been on market at this price point for 2 years, it just feels like a price drop/discount/model revision must be on the way, no? Or maybe just wishful thinking...

Yep it's the Connect version. I was more surprised inflation hadn't increased to cost in the last 2 years. I don't think iMake are planning on releasing a new Grainfather (to be honest they just tweak it as they go rather than releasing a whole new product).
