Hi MyQl,
I'd be interested to hear why you choose to ride a recumbent? Is yours two or three wheels, low or high seat. I can get my head around using one on open roads, but journeys from Peckham seem fraught with danger to me.
What are the pros and cons.
Brian

Hi Brian

My bike is the same as the third one down on post 62 of the link below (although that one isnt my bike)

The pros are, they are very fast because of aerodynamics (well they are fast if your not a lazy git like me). All the human powered land speed records are held by recumbents I believe. They are also very comfortable as your on a seat rather than a saddle. No pressure on wrists or arms either

Cons. They're not very good at going up hill if you dont have the gearing, as you cant stand on the pedals of course.

As far as traffic goes, if you're a cyclist, you'll know that one of the most important things for a cyclist to do is make eye contact with drivers. I can easily do this as my seat is a little higher than a car seat. Everything else is the same road skills as a regular cyclist

Thanks for that, I'd not thought about the uphill bit issue, at least Peckham's not hilly!!!
