So, on Friday my wife informed me that I needed to brew for her on the Monday just gone, and as she knew this would mean that I needed more bottles fast, ordered me some.

They arrived today. £25.50 for 50 500mls bottles from the beer company south on eBay :linky, not bad I reckon. They also do an option to include crown caps for about £3.50 more, but I already have plenty.

The only question now is, what the fluff to do with them all.... lol

Oh and yeah, normally we buy them full and empty them, but we are having trouble drinking all of the beer we have as it is, without buying more... lol

Your wifey sounds ace. I'm constantly reading post by you about her nagging - "Make more beer, NOW!" :laugh8:

Oh it gets better! She's been saving the money from selling the dog biscuits made with the grain..... To buy me a birthday present! lol Ok, it's going to be a bit late (my birthday is tomorrow), but who cares? Still an awesome thing to do. lol

Then there was the evening we were chatting, as you do, and she decided that one day we need to get kegs and a kegerator... Will be a while, if ever, though, as she also decided it has to be a Mangrove Jack's one, as she want's a nice properly made one, not one DIY'd by me.... :laugh8: Those things are NOT cheap!

She's sensible too, as she realises that my brewing the beer is a LOT cheaper than buying it. Bonus that she loves beer I guess... athumb.. Did I mention that she hates soap operas, and likes to watch the occasional rugby game on the TV?ashock1 Oh yeah, and she's an ex-chef....

Yeah, I kinda hit the jackpot....;)

Has she a sister ??

Afraid not, just a brother, and he's a total and utter &^%$%#… I have a sister, but she's married, and to be honest a bit of a harpy.... :laugh8:

You need some shelves that are exactly sized so that the width and space between the shelves will take a given number of bottles.

The photo shows:
  • Top and bottom shelves that can take 650ml bottles, but are only wide enough to take two bottles!
  • A middle shelf that can't accommodate 650ml bottles but isn't big enough to take 46 x 500ml bottles.
Yes! I screwed up when I fitted those shelves; so all I can say is "Measure twice, cut once and check the sizes before you fit anything!"

@AdeDunn , so it looks like you actually came here to gloat...? wink...

Who cares about the bottles?!

Well, there's an argument that my wife is a fantastic bit of brewing equipment... She used to help with sparging and lifting the grain bag (not any more though, I don't sparge any more and found a away around needing help with the grain bag). She also caps the bottles for me... :laugh8: My original intent though was to highlight the good value bottles on eBay, as that price includes shipping... lol

They're not shelves, they're tiny! :p These are my shelves. The problem is though, I still have empty vivs on some of them that I'm slowly getting rid of... Just need to get rid of 2 on the widespan on the back wall, on the bottom shelf, and I'll have room for the 2 boxes of bottles then.... That's actually an old pic, I replaced the rack on the left with a widespan one like the one on the back wall. It's literally a case though of gradually trying to empty them though still. The rack on the right is sorted at least, top of that is where my FVs live, beer and bottles next shelf down, bottom shelf houses tools. Back rack the bottom shelf has vivs on it still, middle shelf has a shrimp tank on it (in use) then boxes of beer, top shelf still has empty vivs on it. Left hand rack has 3 shrimp tanks that got set up but never got filled in the middle, tons of vivs on the bottom shelf been stored, top shelf though is full of my tarantulas at one end, empty FVs at the other....athumb..
