Yeah I think we've all been on the dark side at sometime just some darker than others. Oh and just got this reply back from David Heath in the last hour on his thoughts on the system I bought "Oh dear. The Ace? Is that the same as the Bulldog? If so yes I did cover it and I said why it is junk" so there you go on him rubbishing other systems while in the time he has been accused of co- habitating with GF. His actual words
Yes I did say that. I have also given other systems my thumbs up. The Bulldog systems I have tested are totally inaccurate when it comes to temperature. One moment they show 65 on the screen and it is 70 and the next time it will be something else.
Accurate mash temperatures are vital. If a system cannot do this then they are not fit for brewing. I made that comparison review to warn people and to show people what does work. 99% actually appreciated this.

Watched many of DH's video's including the one from yesterday, either way if it's an honest video or a slight of hand in covering up his business dealings, who really cares, if someone gave me a grainfather and asked me to make video's whilst using it, I would probably do the same. It's a cynical world we are residing in, so who really knows. One way of measuring the significance of events like this is to measure it against the serious events happening today. This just seems like people gas bagging for no real reason. there thats my 2 cents worth of gas.
Thank you David. Nobody gave me anything, be sure to know that. Yes, there were afew products I was sent before release for testing and evaluation. I made this clear in those videos of course. It is quite normal for test units to be sent to various people one after the other.

Welcome to the forum David, due to not having an all in one system or the intention of buying one i haven't watched many of your videos but think Pint Inspector has it spot on here -

The number one competitor for the Grainfather worldwide is the Robobrew/Brewzilla (and it cost half the price) and David Heath gave it a favourable review in a side-by-side comparison. So, if he's a paid shill for GF he's not very good at it.

It would seem he has upset a part of the home brew community by not admitting he worked for them and therefore his reviews have to be biased i guess they have a point but has anyone ever bought (or not bought) a system on the advice of one person on a youtube channel if they have they need their heads read.

The fact is I had actually disclosed it previously, it is just that this video maker did not know. The video she responded to just gave full disclosure on everything so that people could actually hear the truth rather than just paranoid speculation. During the period I did sub contract for them I did not make any reviews. 95% of my channel is just passing on advice and recipes anyway. What I was actually upset about was firstly people spreading lies dressed up as truth and this small number of people sending me abusive and threatening messages. In the end this has been handed over to the police and they are investigating the matter still. My channel continues to gain popularity despite what they have tried to do based on the content. If you look at my channel you will notice it is for the most part just help and information. The fact that I use a GF mostly is simply because that is the system that I only owned for the main period of my channel. Is it really needed to buy more when you have a system? I do feel that most people who watch my content do not actually own a GF. Finally I agree with you last comment. If people base a buy decision based on one review then I would be very very surprised! I never have!

Thank you, much appreciated. Yes, 99% see it for what it is. I never gave out my professional brewing qualifications either before, I just wanted to let the content speak for itself. Since I released those they even tried to discredit that also! Hopefully they will find someone else to hate soon!

Unfortunately the internet is full off trolls fortunately their attention span is very short and the majority will have already found some other poor sod to have a go at.

I should also point out that my video actually came before Sarahs. Some hold the view that she released it to just to get some fast views due to her small channel size. I don't know about that but what I do know is that only I know the truth of the matter and I gave it in my video. I think it is pretty poor for another Youtuber to make such a video based on mere speculation. I also do not see that Youtube should be about such things, there is simply enough hate in this world.
The full story here is that I was part of a Facebook group called "Brewtube". Some of these haters, including Sarah were admins there.
The owner of that channel got fed up with a selection of the admins and removed their admin status. I was given ownership of the forum and the original owner left. He told me to not give them admin status back under any circumstances and do with it as I wished. In truth I did not have time for it, nor want it but I did decide to keep this promise. This of course angered these people but a promise is a promise.
Ever since then they have been negative about me online.
At this point I cannot say if they are behind the threatening messages I have been receiving or not but it does seem suspicious as frankly I do not have any other enemies, just people who appreciate me sharing my knowledge on Youtube.
I have tried contacting them to reason with them but with some of them it is like talking to a brick wall.
There are also things that in hindsight I should have done differently. I did make the GF community aware of my sub contractor work for the Bevie company and I actually held public seminars.
If talking in front of thousands is hiding then clearly the definition has changed! Maybe I should have revealed my commercial brewing background also but I wanted the content to speak for itself.
I also feel that a mans private life should be kept private.
The only reason I create content for Youtube is to help people, there is so much misinformation out there and I just hope I can help that situation.

Thank you for hearing me out.

So don't let the 1% wear you down. The internet will be the internet. Honestly, I don't think people could give two hoots.

I bought a GF because general consensus that it was a good piece of equipment - that was reinforced partly by your channel of course. Do I feel cheated because of some connection you previously had to GF? Not at all, because it is a good piece of equipment. That would be a different matter if it were a heap of ****.

The only thing you have directly influenced me to buy is a small stainless steel sieve. :laugh8:

So crack on with living and put this to one side. Personally, and I say this in good faith, I think it would be a little classier if you didn't feel the need to keep defending yourself - you've made your point and people will either accept that or not. The 1% will stay the 1% but the more this goes on, the more it could become 2%. athumb..

Thanks Bezza. These recent months have been very stressful. I have had many threats to myself and my family and all this constant hate. It built up and up, that is why I made the video, those behind it understood what I was getting at. I was made aware of this forum post and just wanted to give it some comment. Ive never considered myself classy anyway, what with the wort stained clothing and so on :P

That is an opinion you can take for yourself but please do not take it for me.

David, I think it is totally out of order for you to be receiving levels of abuse that you feel the need to be reporting it to the police and you do seem to have contributed a fair amount to the home brewing community but to claim there is no apparent conflict of interest, whether conscious or not, shows naivety. There is a reason that people in their professional lives are often required by law to disclose these kinds of associations or are banned from receiving items of even low value. A simple clear disclaimer upfront might have headed all this off.

Thank you. I did actually give appropriate disclaimers on any review videos, not that I make many of these.
I did not review anything from the company during my work with them either.
What "some" are saying is that I should have given a disclaimer on recipe videos, I did not see this at the time to be honest, If that makes me naive then I put my hand up.
The vast majority (99%) care not and do not see an issue but the danger is that people will trust in lies and form an opinion based on this.

Fair enough, however I think this little saga is going to turn into one of those much ado about nothing affairs.

I started brewing several months ago and I’d like to thank you as your videos were very helpful. I’ve now a bohemian Pilsner which is a mix between your recipe and one I was sent from Weyermann :beer1:just put another batch into my beer fridge for several weeks, although it tasted good enough to drink today !-)
I used your reviews plus many others before I decided to buy my GF, keep up the good work acheers.

Great to hear, much appreciated. I have a video that will be out on Sunday about how to balance your brews to your own taste.

Feel free to post your videos here and take part in the forum we don't judge anyone here (well most don't) :laugh8:

Thanks Chippy, great to hear. I have no issue being judged, I just want people to judge me based on the truth is all.
