Hi David and welcome. Just a couple of points before this nonsense fizzles out in the social media ephemeral natural state. I did buy a GF after watching your videos. But I also watched countless other videos, read countless reviews, checked out IMAKE and only then came to a decision to buy....but I am Scottish so parting with hard earned is not taken lightly (to re-enforce a racial stereotype). I would also like to point out that I was monitoring a discussion on best OS to use with GF Control. You came back with a response "buy an Iphone". I replied that as a respected reviewer and influential person that it was irresponsible to comment on a preferred OS without a reasonable argument. To your credit you took that on board and apologised. The Interweb is a complex place. The individual has the responsibility to asses the validity of the information received and to verify it.

This is almost as exciting as having the real* Greg Hughes on board.
*We have an imposter.

You sure about that? I was a member of a Facebook group with the real Greg Hughes, and a couple of other home brewing "celebrities", and trust me it gets pretty tiresome after a while, especially if one of them decides to start answering posts by basically plugging their latest book without actually mentioning that they're the author (NOTE, this wasn't Greg Hughes, but somebody else doing this)....:laugh8:

Oh and David, you will realise that my comments about "influencers" were nothing personal, I don't go for "influencers" full stop, as in I don't particularly watch YouTube channels etc. Heck I somehow ended up with a channel on there myself (the content on it is so mixed it's bonkers!) and I don't watch that if I can help it. I don't watch Sarah Pantry's video's either for that matter (I know of her from the Facebook group I mentioned). I literally just don't like the "influencer" phenomenon, that's all. This is coming from somebody who almost became one, and started getting sent herp keeping products, including confidential product tests under NDA... When companies get a hint that people are paying attention to your opinions, they start getting VERY interested in you, VERY quickly.

Many thanks for the welcome :) Good to hear that you made your own decisions on purchase, I think my review of the GF did point on what I liked and also the things that I fixed to make it work better. Since then I have also made the suggest of using a 3rd party false bottom and actually I have more coming like this soon :) I think people would be crazy to base their entire purchase on just one mans view. On that basis everyone would like fish, stout and the same cars. We are all different. Yes I remember the whole OS debate. The whole thing was a large "in joke" because frankly the GF software barely worked on Android at that time but worked very well on iOS. My "Buy an iphone" comment was purely in fun and good humour. Once I saw that it was not taken in this way then of course I apologised. There had been lots of humour like this on that FB in the previous week and many, including myself were riding that wave....especially as some of the forum mods were Apple haters :P

No problem. I have never seen myself as an "Influencer" though. Just an ex commericial brewer who bought a GF when he moved to Norway because making a system was going to be a lot more expensive. The only influence I want to have is to help people brew better beer. You can brew just as good beer with a pot with a bag in it on your stove, I have said this quite a lot on my channel. Brewing systems like the GF are purely a convenience and a way to brew more compared. As long as you can control mash temps then all is good. Ive brewed in kegs, pots and old dairy equipment as well as large commercial systems, all in one homebrew systems and the end result is just as good with all methods. My best advice to everyone has been to invest in stable and controllable fermentation solutions first before paying lots of cash on anything to brew with.

Have you told David he must disclose if he drinks Fosters because that would be a conflict of interest :laugh8:

Haha, dont worry....I am preparing a file with everything in it for those that want it including my diet and inside leg measurement. Man it is so hard to cover some peoples demands!
I can confirm that I do not drink Fosters at this point but I cannot be held responsible for drinking it during my next trip to Oz if it is all they have at a BBQ. Actually scrub that, I would rather drink water, at least it can have some flavour to it :)

Blimey - bit of brew scandal !

“Grainfather Gate - You Tuber Corruption” will be in the Sun tomorrow !

Personally don’t give a tosh. I’m sensible enough to look at many reviews before buying an expensive product like this , so the haters out there need to get a life.

Welcome aboard David , I hope you’ll stick around !

I should also point out that my video actually came before Sarahs. Some hold the view that she released it to just to get some fast views due to her small channel size. I don't know about that but what I do know is that only I know the truth of the matter and I gave it in my video. I think it is pretty poor for another Youtuber to make such a video based on mere speculation. I also do not see that Youtube should be about such things, there is simply enough hate in this world.
The full story here is that I was part of a Facebook group called "Brewtube". Some of these haters, including Sarah were admins there.
The owner of that channel got fed up with a selection of the admins and removed their admin status. I was given ownership of the forum and the original owner left. He told me to not give them admin status back under any circumstances and do with it as I wished. In truth I did not have time for it, nor want it but I did decide to keep this promise. This of course angered these people but a promise is a promise.
Ever since then they have been negative about me online.
At this point I cannot say if they are behind the threatening messages I have been receiving or not but it does seem suspicious as frankly I do not have any other enemies, just people who appreciate me sharing my knowledge on Youtube.
I have tried contacting them to reason with them but with some of them it is like talking to a brick wall.
There are also things that in hindsight I should have done differently. I did make the GF community aware of my sub contractor work for the Bevie company and I actually held public seminars.
If talking in front of thousands is hiding then clearly the definition has changed! Maybe I should have revealed my commercial brewing background also but I wanted the content to speak for itself.
I also feel that a mans private life should be kept private.
The only reason I create content for Youtube is to help people, there is so much misinformation out there and I just hope I can help that situation.

Thank you for hearing me out.
Personally, I think the channel is great. I hope all the furore over nothing only increases your subscription rate
