Did my first extract beer as part of a HB club challenge neipa with kveik yeast. So much easier than a full brew day.
#inappropriate glassware.

Keg kicked as I was pouring 2 glasses for the wife and I earlier. Managed to pour her beer but not mine. Off I went to the offy. So it's a sixer of Moosehead for me tonight.

Oh God - I've been put in charge of the bar at the School's bingo fundraiser but told I can have whatever I want. Do they want money?

Darkstar Hophead clone not conditioned yet but very sessionable. Loving how 15 months in I can make something like this. No adjuncts but great head retention. Good body for a 3.8%er.

All strength to the forum members who have contributed to my steep learning curve.

I'm drinking this tonight:

and I wish I could share it with you. Not because it's a stunning pint, it's not quite that yet. I'm using 100% Bestmalz Red-X at an OG of around 1050 (as recommended by the malster). It's a difficult malt: a little malt forward, but with a hint of acidity after the swallow. Refreshing, but "creamy" as well.
Made my first batch with Aramis for bittering and Barbe-Rouge for flavour- too grassy. My second batch, the one in the picture uses Magnum for bittering and Huell Melon for flavour- lovely, but not stunning.
I'm sure that if I can find the right hop or combination of hops, I can really make this malt sing. I'd wanted to stay all German or Alsatian, but ready now to move further afield.
Has anybody had any experience of using Red-X at 100% of the grain bill. If so, with what degree of success.
I should say that when I gave this to a German lass, she thought it was the dog's bollokcs, but I know it could be better.

i had this lat night and its very good.

This isn't mine my OCD wouldn't allow me take a leaning picture like that :laugh8:

Hey Stigman. Where is the H/B club based in town, and do you have some info. Cheer's :hat:
Usually 3pm Cafe beermoth but sometimes we have it at beer nouveau brewery, the owner still comes to meetups and along with a few others runs the group. There's a Facebook group and Twitter if that helps.
