as promised here's an update. Left it alone in FV with heat on and the odd bubble started again. I have taken hydrometer reading today and it's 1012 which I'm happy with. looking reasonably clear and tasted pretty good too.
Have gently tilted FV to encourage sediment to back and plan to siphon most into corny tomorrow and leave in fridge for a few weeks for further conditioning. I'm bottling remaining 6 pints with a CO2 tab in each bottle, then put them somewhere warm for a couple weeks and then into fridge for at least 2 weeks before sampling.

As it's my 1st brew does this sound reasonable ?

Sounds very reasonable. One thing though: punt 1 bottle away for 10 days or so, then a few days in the fridge, then try it. You gonna try some anyway as soon as possible, you might as well prepare for it :laugh8:

sorry Justin I'm new to all this so it was a kit I'm afraid so recipe was 2 tins of malted extract and 2 sachets of yeast.

Hi Beerlad, Turn your heater off and let it stand cool tonight, the cold will help it drop the sediment and aid clearing. sounds like you done a great job.

thanks for the encouragement. I got a bit delayed with my plans but turned heater off on Sunday night and plan to keg and bottle tomorrow so it's had couple of days to settle a bit. Then I just need to be patient I suppose.

Yep, I've only done a few kits myself so far but am pleased with the results, when you've packaged the wherry you'll have to get the next brew started.

kegged and bottled today. looks clearer than I expected at this point. Tastes alright as well. Can't wait for a couple more weeks kegged in the fridge and 2 weeks in the house for the bottles to see what that does for clarity and taste.
Now I have a feeling for how long the whole process takes I'll try to time my next brew in advance.

I did a simply pale ale with an extra 500g dried spray malt and that didn’t bubble at all. Even though the lid was sealed perfectly well. I was convinced nothing was happening until I checked the SG after 10 days and found it had gone from 1.054 to 1.004!
