There never was, it's just that we never noticed, until we had some proper beer:cheers3:.

My wife keeps asking 'do you want any beers buying when I go shopping' to which I point to the conditioning shelves and reply no thanks, I've even got an 18 can pack of Carling that is in my man cave somewhere, sorry to gloat @WelshD but I had 2 months off work due to taking voluntary redundancy and got sh1t loads of brews done and got paid for by the company I left:laugh8:clapanow I'm back at work I might feel your pain come the Summer or Autumn but still trying to keep on top of the brewing.

I drank 15 cans of Fosters the other night (seriously) and I think I liked it more than I ever have since I started homebrewing. There was a slight grain to it which I probably would have picked out before because I'd just have swilled it down.... now I swill it down with a nod to the nuances. 'Nuanced' is code for damning with faint praise. 1664 definitely tastes better than Stella.

haha my next brew will be done next sunday but have to stick with cans until then :( trying to get a few done now so i dont have this problem again

This a loose quote from "Earthly Powers" by Anthony Burgess. At party on the island of Malta, the discussion abruptly turns:

"Geoffrey does an amusing impression of an oenophile (whilst drunk and swilling a beaker of the local raisin juice) - 'Ah, yes, I would definitely say that this comes from Grima's backyard and not Fennech's. The South side, you know, where the diabetic Tom Cat goes for a **** at night' ".

It's the diabetic Tom Cat that is important, of course, rather than the actual quote. Important in that this could well be the slight nuance that makes 1664 better than Stella, or Fosters, for that matter.

Good luck, it will give you something to look forward to and a chance to try some different beers that you may clone in the future?

Had a lovely meal out on the weekend with friends, found myself smelling the aroma from my glass of San Miguel........... there wasn't any! My wife spotted me doing it and chuckled!
