Now leave it alone for another week at least before you add your hops. And that means keep the lid on.
Well day three and we are at 1.012 from 1.048. There is no froth at 20 oc. It smells nice. It seems to like the low constant temp.

I assume you have opened the FV ....again.
The reason most experienced homebrewers advocate 'keeping the lid on' is to reduce the risk of infecting your beer from airborne sources. Whilst this risk is small it is not insignificant. You might get away with it, and you might not. And if you don't get away with it, you then run the risk of having to dump all your beer and with it £20 of your hard earned plus your time and effort. The choice is yours.

Ok point taken. I will leave for three more days and check the density. Then decide to add the hops. Which haven’t arrived yet. lol.

I brewed my first kit just four months ago so I know only too well how exciting it is to see stuff happening. But, I think you need to either get yourself a brew fridge, with a lock on it, and have someone hide the key from you for two weeks, or invest in a see through bucket. :)

Haha good idea. CO2 is denser than air so will hang around for a bit. I will try to wait a few days before my next measurement.
 
Not a lot of point giving you advice if you choose to completely ignore it. I shan't bother again. Other may be like minded.
Hi although we are on day 4 and down to 1.010 do you still recommend leaving for another 6 days before dry hopping. This would be ten days then leave for another. Is that about right.
 
Dry hope after 10 day, leave it for 3 days, package on day 14. It will make your beer clear and taste better. 2 weeks for carbonation and at least 2 weeks maturing in cellar like temp. Beer making is not fast process.

Hi. I hopped after day 5 which was last Friday. I will put into bottling container tomorrow. It’s at 5.7% alcohol presently. I have left the hopsin for so long as my bottles haven’t arrived. Total time in primary fermenter will be 14. Cheers

If you absolutely insist on being so pedantic about gravity readings. Then get an FV with a spigot and use your hydrometer as you would a sample. I read so much before I started and I am on my third brew now. My only vice has been having sneaky tasters due to impatience. That has now worn off as I was rewarded at the weekend with the best stout I have ever had in my life. Patience is key, hence multiple stock and brews meaning you are more likely to leave your brews alone for the sake of the great final product ;)

I'm a few kit brews in now but still can't resist the odd taste of a new brew, perhaps before it's reached it's best. So, I now fill four or five 200ml tonic water bottles at bottling time too. :)
 
Well done! but it'll improve a lot more if you leave it to condition for a couple of weeks.... but you ain't gonna do that eh? asad.:laugh8:
The only issue I have they always a malty sugary taste. I will leave a few to see if that goes. I imagine all kits have that taste. I would to taste one that has been brewed from base ingredients. I imagine they are better.
