I also tried one of the £47 kits.. it was better than the £40 imo. But not better enough for me to buy another one.

Im having a glass now of the red from the powder that I made around 3-4 months ago.

The first thing I notice is the smell is almost chemically and not great. However the flavour is now pretty good! It doesnt compare to a good kit but is a very drinkable wine and seems to have developed a lot of mouth feel too. Overall Im quite impressed, I still have half a pack left so might try a 23L batch with maybe 8L grape juice and might try some oak chips too. I have a long queue of brews to go on before it so could be a while.

Hi chaps-just started making wine again 2 years ago and have now found this forum. Was interested in the powdered grape. Is the general consensus that the white is NGB and the red so-so.......with the possibility that using it as an additive / enhancer may be OK ?? OR....that it MAY be OK [ or better ] if more were added / ie..oak chips and the ubiquitous grape juice from ASDA for body ??? Comments solicited !!!

Any updates on the white grape powder version of this anyone??

The red is ok for the money but stick to the ratios in the instructions. I tried a batch with about 40% more powder and that wasn't nice.

The white I tried once and that wasn't very nice but I used the powder up in some other fruit wines (peach, pear) and it worked well.

I've also tried rosehip powder and that made a wine I really liked when back sweetened, it had an almost sherry like taste.

Thanks for the reply...Interestingly you have done the same as my thoughts....but I wondered about the ratios. ie " I used the powder up in some other fruit wines " did you make-perhaps a 1 gallon WOW [ 3 to 4 litres of juice ] and then added the correct amount of powder for a gallon ?? Or was it less ?

I made a batch, 23l of fruit wine (using tinned fruit) as I would normally with 250g of the powder as an addition to my regular recipe (so about 50g for a gallon).
