Is the end nigh?

I reckon the 'magic bullet' for cancer is known, and a well-guarded secret. Imagine the ramifications and consequences if it got out. No, seriously. Same with these climate-change f***wits. Seriously, think about that too, what with all the water under the bridge for all these decades that they've been peddling the fallacy.
A friends wife recovered from a serious long term illness in a couple of weeks with cbd oil. Now they want to ban it.

This is an interesting watch and is relevant to the thread as he discusses periodic extinctions near the end.

If you believe that global warming is man made then less man less warming because the growth model employed by capitalism means less demand for goods and a higher standard of living for all. Look at the black death and how wages rose as there were not enough workers to go around. Nobility did not like that!

In the space of 7 days, the UK commits to zero carbon emissions by 2050 (?) and announces plans to extend Heathrow airport. Is that to accomodate gliders or summat? Climate change.... what a total load of b*****ks. Guys, follow the money, not the hopelessly misinformed degenerates and charlatans who peddle this junk.

With zero carbon emissions, what are you going to use to boil your beer with?(Calor gas produces carbon) How are you going to chill your Carlsberg? Nuclear, wind, and tidal energy etc are all well and good, but reducing to zero means not only finding alternative sources of energy, but reducing our use of energy.

We're all doomed I tell you.

Right, here's a challenge:
Who's going to be the first to brew the first batch of zero-carbon beer? (Ignoring the carbon produced in getting the materials to your door).

Does carbon offsetting count? My energy supplier is "green" meaning they either get their energy from green energy or carbon offset.

I've always thought about the way people are kept in comparison to how animals are kept.
The animals intensively farmed - packed in tight spaces and fed highly processed food get sick - so are routinely given antibiotics to stop them dying before market. - These are the same antibiotics we get if we are lucky.

Then we compare the way they live and are fed with free range animals - and they are healthier.- So why can't we live and work a little more free range?
Dense housing, nightshift working, close body contact in travel, highly processed food = a sick population.

Hmm. Offsetting the greenhouse gases produced in making your beer by making savings elsewhere is not what I had in mind. Beer-making seems to use and waste massive amounts of energy and that might be more ethical if it doesn't contribute any greenhouse gases at all. Of course I forgot to say that the carbon liberated by fermentation as CO2 is beyond our control and need not be taken into account.
I'm not even sure if this is possible. And therein lies the challenge.

I'm getting ideas of suspending my kettle over a fire and doing it the old fashioned way with a decoction mash. The ash from the fire can go on my wife's crops.

And which carbon free fuel will you be using for the fire? Wood? Nope. Coal? Nope. :?:;)

For goodness sake I have just spent over 1 hour in traffic outside London around the 406 to go less than 8 miles how they going to tackle that volume of traffic or will we all have electric cars by then if so the traffic will still be there every night.

My leccy is apparently '100% renewable' so I reckon my last batch (the 1st on my electric system) must be pretty close to zero-carbon

More to the point if you are stuck in traffic at night in the winter - you still have to use your power for heating and keeping the lights on.
How long before we are stuck behind one in the winter that has run out of charge?
Would the AA give you a boost?

I am fortunate enough to have solar panels on my rental and although they make most of the cash from them, we can use what we like during the day. I installed an energy monitor to see when we are in a plus or minus situation - so during the day we have 2Kw on tap - when the sun is out.
Plus I am growing a lot of lettuce at the moment so I suppose I could be carbon neutral.
All food waste gets composted and used in the garden too.

That is a most sensible point! No doubt the car will be fitted with stop/start which probably isn't any good for any battery.
Imagine that...loads conked out, flat as a fluke...how would they be rescued?

We're moving into the age of automation. Traffic and range anxiety will be things of the past

Well so is mine. I turn off the switch and the lights go out. I turn it back on and everything is renewed.
So what? Renewable energy is not the same as zero-carbon energy. If I burn a tree and plant another to replace it, I've still filled the atmosphere with the CO2 from burning that tree.
The world gets hot from increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is ok because forests love the stuff and it makes them grow greener and faster and they suck CO2 out of the air with a very satisfying "schluuuck" sound. So we should stop cutting the bugggers down. Cow farts are another issue.

Anybody want to try my magic mushroom Imperial Shandy?

They go on about renewable energy...the fact is all energy is renewable as the amount of energy on the planet never changes.

It's ok Shell are now offering 100% renewable energy tarrifs so you can use theirs. They bought First Utility recently -which was only using 3.7% renewables, and magically - they are now sourcing 100% renewables.

(It's all a bit of clever accounting as you may have guessed) - https://www.goodenergy.co.uk/blog/2...le-promise-highlights-the-problem-with-regos/
But if all the brokers are now supplying from renewable sources...where are they all?
