Enjoying a few pints of my German Tettnang Pilsner. It's a very refined lager, more balanced than hoppy which I put down to the advertised character of the Wyeast 2308.

Christmas Pudding Wine - 28% ABV. I think a 330ml bottle might be too much lol.

Mid afternoon and it's miserable outside... rain an all that, so I crack open a brew!
Bit young, as in another couple of days it will have had it's two week carbonating period.
So what am I drinking? Got a Coconut stout on the go and not bad too.
Recipe below is for a small batch brew (10 litres)
1.700g Liquid Malt Extract
150g Chocolate Malt
88g Crystal Malt
134g Lactose
300g Coconut Flakes
35g East Kent Goldings Hops (for bittering)
It has a most unusual taste, definitely coconutty but the chocolate malt fights through and kinda dominates, that malt never seems chocolatey to my tastes, it always comes across as more of a coffee taste and it goes good with coconut. This will improve I'm sure of it. At 5.3%... I think it has made the day a slight more pleasant.
An interesting note: The 1.7g LME I bought off of ebay for a knock down price because it was out of date.... No hint of twang with this!

This #39 was primed in a .45L bottle but with the sugar like it was a .5L, so a bit overcarbed for the style.

Picked up some of the new Tesco beers today. Never tried a Brut beer before and not sure about this. It's lovely and dry and fizzy with restrained bitterness to suit but it has a pronounced wine/grape character that I wish was a bit more hoppy.
