I recently added a few dregs from a Voss Kveik slurry which was left over from pitching to a brew the other day.
I added it to some H&B malt extract that was stuck to the jar after rinsing the jar with boiling water and left to cool.
It has fermented out and now I'm considering decanting and topping up with some apple juice to grow.
Has anyone else used apple juice as opposed to DME/LME?

Not meant to be a good idea. Yeast will eat through the fructose fine, but will forget how to eat maltose effectively, and will perform poorly as a result.

I've always found cider good fun to play with. Much less involved than a brew day.
Certainly with TC although I've only done 2 batches so far and on checking they both smell slightly funky but I'm sure that is to be expected.
If it turns out ok I might have a dabble at adding other juices like grapefruit or pineapple to see how they do.

I've done 2 batches of TC with Voss and used apple juice for a starter - I used a good dose of nutrient and the cider came out well although the kveik rips through the sugar leaving it b'stard dry without back sweetening, and it kicked out a bit of sulphur while fermenting. Tastes pretty good now and I've saved some of the cider Voss but not sure I want to push it to generation 3 in the apple juice

I'm sure that it's worth a try with the addition of sweetener maybe.
