Hello
Hope you can help! I used std cooper real ale kit and started first fermentation on sat. There was no bubbling through the airpock until yesterday afternoon, back from work today and bublling stopped already. Took measurements and staring 1.042 down to 1.008. Is it possible fermentation is finished?will try to get a pic, bucket at 24 degrees in a dark place

I had a bitter go from 1.040 to 1.012 in 44 hours.
Do you mean it should be ok then? I will wait till tomorrow to take another reading but worried since it was meant to take around a week to ferment?

Just make sure the gravity readings are stable over 2-3 days. No harm in leaving it go a few days, if anything it will be beneficial. It probably fermented quickly if it was left at ambient temperature.

Thank you for your reply, tasted the sample after taking the reading and seemed bit sour/champagne like, would it be the case for this beer type?

The yeast doesn't know it's supposed to go for a week, it goes at it 's own pace: it might go anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks depending on a lot of factors.
I always leave mine go two or three weeks depending on the O G. Don't be in a rush.
There may have been some fermentation going on before there were any bubbles.
