I’m looking for some advice on what a beer lover can get up to in Berlin.

For Christmas, my wonderful girlfriend had booked for us to go to for the weekend in August for the Berlin Beer Festival. However they announced this weekend that it will no longer be going ahead, which I’m absolutely gutted about.

Having been to Berlin a couple of times and being rather underwhelmed I’m looking for ideas/suggestions on what to do. Specifically beer related. Any good breweries/bars people can recommend??

Non-beer related suggestions are also welcome!! I’m looking for recommendations now because we’re currently considering just conceding the loss on flights, cancelling the hotel and going to the London Craft Beer Festival instead!!

You could always make your own beer festival by spending the time touring the breweries. I wouldn't cancel - just change what you do there.

As above, also check out what is going down in Prague, if there isn't a beer festival there are plenty of brew pubs with excellent beer. And its only down the road.

stones in berlin - absolutly amazing - its about 10 mins walk from the nearest public transport stop.

Yeh touring the breweries is what we're looking at doing at the moment.

We did consider hopping on a train to Prague as I love it and the GF really wants to visit, but train tickets seem to cost more than a direct flight out there would be, so it seems a little pointless (also seems to be the case for Munich).

I think we will definitely check Stones out!
