According to the BBC News, President Trump has today promised the world that:
  • The USA will be "open for business" by the 12th April 2020.
  • There will be no reason for the USA to close any businesses.

The guy lives in a fantasy world that occupies the minimal space in his ‘brain’. I hope I’m wrong, but I think the US may suffer very badly from the virus.

When all of this is over, he’ll go after China for compensation, which in turn will lead to another trade war.

The thing is with Trump he seems to get results...anyway,it's a massive statement and you can't make those unless you're barking mad or have an ace up your sleeve...

If the accusations of China are to believed, Trump may have been up to no good. Could his ace be an antidote?

I notice that as time ticks by, 12th April gets nearer and the number of dead in the USA climbs, Mr. Trump has become a lot less assertive about getting everything sorted!

I wish he was right, but my money is still on Mr. Trump not being anywhere near correct!

President Trump did not say that. He hopes that by Easter which happens to be the 12th, that at least some parts of the US will be over the hump and some businesses and schools could consider reopening. He used Easter as a point of reference because of its religious holiday significance, but it came across as sounding arbitrary. Because of how he inartfully delivers a message, people who hang on every word to find fault with him (and of those there is an abundance), have been having a field day with his desire to pick a date. Then they pile questions on to the medical and science members of his response team, trying to get them to contradict the President, and they clarify his intention was to express his optimism rather than doom & gloom for the American people and the country’s economy. There is no doubt that places like NY city won’t be able to return to normalcy as quickly as vast middle swaths of the country where there are scant cases. But in the end, the team professionals all say that Trump listens to them, his style is to express hope and optimism, and he continually stays informed to make his decisions.

At the moment it is turning into a chess game, China is opening up production, will America follow suit? Donald Trump has some difficult decisions to make, as do all the world leaders. Your move what would you do?

Surely common sense would say don't lift the isolation ban unt new cases and deaths have stopped for a while.

But having people die is less damaging to the US economy than staying closed.
Trumps powerful friends are losing money on their billions of stocks and need the markets to recover quickly.

I’m afraid the truth won’t get in the way of some good old left wing BBC trump bashing.

And for the record I’m not the greatest fan myself. But at times he seems to take a common sense approach which the haters hate.

EDIT

Sorry! Mea culpa! forgot to show where he was deciding to open up the USA "by Easter" (Easter Sunday is 12th April 2010)

Check out 7mins 34secs into this video for what he said on 24th March 2020; which is why I did this Post.

Er ... I've kept the last sentence because Mr. Trump has a habit of sacking people who don't agree with him and lambasting those he can't sack; so is it any wonder that these people sing his praises?

I refer you to the following where you will find that Mr. Trump changes his tune so often that it's hard to know what he is saying ...

If you want today's figures and have the time please check out this video ...

BTW, the BBC News reports that Mexico has closed its border with the USA! Surely that tells you something?

There's a lot there to digest here, but in the spirit of community I'll keep most of it to myself. But this is the most precious. Have you even paid attention to the sh!t that Mexico's President has said and done? Google is your friend. Ever seen videos or photos of Mexicans scaling the border wall with ladders? Yeah, they're really trying to close the border.

I think we Americans are taking this a lot more seriously than a lot of countries did. People ARE staying in or at least staying distant from each other.

If you take New York's numbers out we're doing pretty well. Late February Cuomo and DeBlasio told their residents there was nothing to fear and to go on with life, get out, get dinner, see a movie. Well that clearly wasn't the best advice. As way left libs they are now blaming Trump for the monster they created.

I think, as a percentage of population, The U. S. will have fewer deaths than a lot of other countries. We have 300,000,000 million people. It's only reasonable to expect more cases by hard numbers than smaller countries.

All the Best,
D. White

Dan Patrick did the same and is still doing it, get back to work and forfeit the elderly.
I also see an English guy in the UK is now blaming the elderly as being a dead weight on the NHS.

I agree entirely on the first point, it's just a pity that your President is such an egocentric fool.

With regard to the second point, I also agree, but if it occurs it will be more due to the widespread nature of the population rather than the effectiveness of any medical treatment system; especially for the poor in the larger cities.

I give you three photographs of the city that is apparently next on the list after New York. The photographs were taken in 2009 which was four years after Hurricane Katrina.

I don't expect the poor in New Orleans to be any better off today than they were in 2009!

Mr. Trump has moved his prediction to the 30th April and declared that the 12th April was "only an aspiration".

Personally, I think he would have been much nearer being correct had he predicted that the epidemic would be over in the USA by the 31st April.

Listen to this gem! With someone as out of touch as this you don't need them as a Leader! Apparently, one hospital in New York has over 20,000 staff and he thinks they are either asking for too many face-masks or stealing them! With friends like this you don't need any enemies.
