Can't help but laugh at the fact we've all sorted hops, grain, yeast (and water), and it's the bloody bottle tops that have tripped us up! :laugh8:
They can be reused though push comes to shove! :beer1:

I'm sure Gareth at Dark Farm is nodding wisely and saying "told you so". :laugh8:

You say that but I am now sighing in relief that I bought a thirty pack of 16g CO2 bulbs a few weeks ago. Mini kegs (and for that matter corny kegs) are useless without CO2. suspect It’s only the pressure barrel users who are truly safe.

Just a couple of things folks might find useful...

Brewing Sugar is Dextrose... I've bought myself a 4kg bag, meant as a supplement for bodybuilding. It's still Dextrose and was cheaper than 'brewing' sugar (much like a cake is more expensive when you say it's for a wedding!)

For bottles and caps/closures, I stumbled upon sen5es.co.uk

Bottles are very reasonably priced (especially 330ml bottles, which are my preference) and they do bulk quantities of caps, normally delivered within a couple of working days. I've had excellent service from them athumb..

Anybody having a cap crisis could simply buy the cheapest PETs of water available and use those. Not ideal, but better than losing a brew while waiting for caps. Anybody who's got a party keg of anything (except Doom Bar, which has weird fittings) should be laughing as they can be refilled and they carbonate quicker than bottles and with less sugar. Plenty of info on this forum and elsewhere, but if anybody needs talking through it....

Received my order from THBC this morning. Luckily I had remembered to order caps, plenty of them... and a bench capper for good measure athumb.. . I'm not trusting my hand capper to last out 12 weeks of hectic brewing activity.

7 days from ordering to delivery. That's reasonable in these times I think.

I'm just waiting till tomorrow (payday!) to get a Geterbrewed order in. Not in a great rush for it. Seeing as I am saving money on commuting to work I have even treated myself to a bottle tree in addition to stuff for a Galaxy IPA.

I for one am not having a bottle cap crisis but rather my beer can't brew soon enough as i am running out :c
I’m not running out just going through it quicker than usual. I’ve put on 2 brews in 2 weeks so far, with the first one being bottled and a new one brewed this weekend. I might need to leave it a bit longer for brew 4 because my Vienna lager will be tying up the other brew fridge for about 8 weeks.

I have brewed 3 in the past 3 days. Not vats left to brew in :c

I have just spoken with MaltMiller and apparently they are near to finishing off the order backlog an should be taking online orders again tomorrow sometime

Problem for me is that while I try to stick to drinking only on Froday and the weekend, suddenly all my drinking is at home, I.e typically I would go to the pub on Friday, on a Saturday I often went to a bottle shop/pub in Oxford, that filled growlers, so would only be drinking my own beer on Sunday, and little if any on the other two days. Now while I’m working through some of my stock of, commercial beer it’s suddenly mostly home brew so drinking twice as much of it if not more.

I ordered a selection of yeasts on Saturday via ebay, but had to use 3 different sellers. All quoted delivery between Weds 25th and Thur 26th, one arrived Tuesday, still waiting on the others.

Noticed this morning that I am running low on bottle caps, got one batch ready for bottling in the next few days and brewing another today. Placed an order for 250 earlier, delivery 7 - 10 days, Just hope they turn up.
I received the last of my yeast deliveries and the caps this morning. I tried Baron's penny trick on the cap last night and it worked, but its less urgent now.

I see THBC is not taking any more orders until they work through what they already have.

I can see this becoming a self-perpetuating cycle. As one online shop stops taking orders it puts load on the others who then become swamped.

BrewUK are taking orders, but warning it could take up to a week for delivery - the problem is as much with the couriers as anything, who are swamped and aren't guaranteeing delivery dates.

Out of interest I have just checked three online suppliers CML, THBC and Homebrewshop and they are all not taking any orders for the time being. I guess others will follow soon if they haven't done so already

BrewUK are coming out the other side of this - like others they were swamped around the start of the shut-in, but it sounds like they're getting on top of things. Sounds like TMM are getting there as well. To be honest I'm more wary of the smaller ones like Brew2Bottle who haven't suspended orders AFAICT.
