Hi all!
After a hiatus of about 30 years, getting back into brewing! Last recipes I used were dear old Dave Lines! Things have changed a bit! Looking forward to the challenges, and, of course, your inestimable wisdom when I get lost....
Cheers!

What type of brewing are you looking to do, kits, extract, or all grain?
Any particular styles you're interested in trying?

Welcome aboard.

Welcome back. I cut my teeth on Dave Line, too. Nothing wrong with his recipes apart from his extraction rates, that is. Things have got overcomplicated since, especially with hopping rates and water chemistry. Try and steer a middle course would be my advice and don't imagine that everything you learnt 30 years ago is now obsolete.

Cheers m'dears! Yes, extraction rates were kinda unknown to Home brewers then! I'm trying a few Graham Wheeler recipes for starters...like London Pride, ESB, that sort of brew. Later, after spending shedloads, I might even try a lager!

Hiya, and thanks for the reply...into all grain really, had a couple of brews already that were surprisingly drinkable, in the way of bitters. Just catching up reading about everything!
The internet
That's for sure!

Still got my original Richie brew boiler, and my Boots fermenter! My grain bag seems to have been eaten by a miscreant rodent though. Treated myself to some new kit, on the suggestion of She Who Must Be Obeyed!
Yeast sis interesting now.....not the little blue and yellow "brewer's yeast" packet from Boots anymore!

Graham Wheeler recipes tend to be extremely reliable and make up a fair few of the beers I brew regularly. Haven’t tried his London Pride recipe but the London Porter recipe, is excellent.

I've still got much of my old Boots kit, especially the pressure barrels which are still good. Yep, I think Wheeler, especially his earlier books, is a natural progression from Dave Line. Haven't been a great fan over the years, I must confess, (his beer and brewing is good, but I think his imitation recipes are a bit woolly). In particular, his comments on hop utilisation correspond exactly with my own.
