Today’s run on Spotify included Opeth, Bootsy Collins and the Alex Skolnik Trio in consecutive songs. The daily playlist algorithm has a lot to cope with given my wide and varied listening habits.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

I totally get where you’re coming from, and I’d point that finger squarely at the Gold, tonight is the first time I’ve tried it. Their style is big bold and bitter and I absolutely love the IPA. There’s a few hits and misses across the range.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

I’ve a fermenter full of an American Amber getting dry hopped tomorrow ahead of kegging Monday/Tuesday.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Pale Ale this time. Not as nice as the session IPA, mouthfeel isn’t as full and I’m guessing there’s less in it crystal too. Not getting much in the way of esters from the New England yeast, but I think that’s probably down to overconsumption on my part and a BBQ for dinner.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Yes, they use it in a lot of their brews but I’ve no idea where it’s sourced. Moving on to their Pale Ale next for comparison purposes.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Next up tonight, a session IPA from my favourite local brewery. Smells of citrus hops, a hop forward taste and dry as a bone. The crystal and wheat contributions are very subtle. It’s a great beer.

He’s thinking “I’m sure if I’m fast enough, everything will work out fine”

Opening proceedings this evening with an ale for me and a lager for the misses.

    Session IPA

Good question, and a bit philosophical for this time of the morning. I suppose it's more terminology than a true difference in style with session more associated with American styles, I could be very wrong on that but. I'm reminded of the Joey Dunlop joke - "Is that a pavlova or a meringue?"...

    Session IPA

Cheers for that. Liberty Bell is definitely a good shout, I’ll shift some of the hops to later in the schedule too. I’m going to get this on the go next weekend, think I might pick up a few Farmegeddon Session IPAs for later for a final taster before locking in the recipe. It’s rather tasty, and...

    Session IPA

Anyone brewed a good one of these? I had hoped the GEB Crisp English IPA would be a good go-to for a dry hoppy lower alcohol summer quaffer. It's definitely a nice beer, but way off the mark for what I was looking for. Here's my first go at redressing the balance. The plan; more interesting the...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

That’s what I love about home brew. I haven’t had a dopplebock In the wild, but it’s a style that should be right up my street. So I’m going to brew a couple and see if they live up to expectations.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

GEB Crisp English IPA, definitely has improved with a few weeks in keg. IBU:OG is 0.6ish so more a summer golden ale than an IPA. Very easy drinking and crystal clear, as the view of the half finished crossword confirms!

    Saucery - magic rock

Check out the current Brülosophy podcast, all about acid malt. I’m planning a session IPA next, recipe almost finalised. I’ll try to grab a few Saucery to sample first before locking in.
