I wish I'd joined this forum from before day 1. I was doing extract kits then and ruined 4 due to bad methods. A wealth of info on here. If you can't find the answers, just ask.
Finally a dry afternoon, so I took the opportunity to brew a Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra clone. The AG kit (from MM) was for 19 litres but as usual I want more! So I added another kilo of pale malt and added 10 minutes to the boil time to up the ABV and IBUs. Got 23 litres at OG of 1.065. So...
I've got a couple of the Vevor 8 litre kegs, with taps and CO2 regulators, from Aliexpress. They take a bit of getting used to the pouring operation, but having watched the video posted on this thread I realise I was trying it with too much pressure. Luckily it has a spunding valve.
I kept a...
As an addition to this thread, my Brewzilla 3.1.1 1900w element stopped working.
Thought it was needing a replacement element but they are an integral part of the 'Zilla, so it was looking like a scrapper.
I asked on some Facebook group (American) and someone suggested swapping the switches over...
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll put this one off until I've got more time I think.
The recipe says it should be 11.3% ABV and to be honest I don't mind too much if I don't achieve that!
Hi All. I've got a Trappist Rochefort all grain kit to do but the 7kg grain bill in my Brewzilla concerns me.
Also the recipe calls for a stepped mash, which I find always results in a stuck mash and a couple of hours of faffing.
Is it possible to do two separate mashes and combine the 2 worts...
Sticking with Duvel. This time Tripel Hop Cashmere. Not as smooth as the Citra but a nice drop nevertheless. Check out the new bottle brush too. Only 1 euro and it fits through the neck of the bottle!
I haven't contributed much recently but as we're in Cherbourg for the weekend it's an ideal opportunity to try some great beer. First trip to the supermarket I got 7 different bottles.
First up Goudale IPA. Rubbish head retention but 50 IBUs of Simcoe and Cascade. 7.2%. Nice.
Arrrrghh!
They became my go to after the demise of BrewUK for AG kits.
I'll still use them for hops and yeast though.
Worcester Hop Shop have a great range of AG kits but after contacting them about shipping it just is too cost prohibitive for me.
Thanks for your help Sadfield.
I'll keep the beer in cold and dark and try it every now and again.
Also I think I'll give up harvesting yeast, especially as CML are so cheap.
