Just been reading the RULES! LOL

Just to expand and explain a bit more on this (WHICH IS WHAT AUSTIN AND GROUPBUILDER SHOULD HAVE DONE!!!). the bulletin boards handle text in the same way . . . unfortunately phpBB handles it in an international way using UTF-8 character set, vBulletin on the other hand uses a different...

    private messages

That could have been done as a default . . . And would have been highlighted if you had been bothered to do some testing like a professional organisation would have done!!

There will be an 'Offset' that you can apply that will bring your PID into line with a reference device . . unfortunately is does vary depending on your PID.

    Problems posting.

That is a feature of the new all singing all dancing forum software . . .anything that isn't a standard lower 127 characters of the of the ASCII table breaks it. . . . That used to be a feature of windows 3 at one time . . .good to see the progress we are making . . .Can't wait to see how it...

    Beginners question

Airing cupboard is too hot, ideally you need between 18 and 22C (preferably under 20C). The yeast will have finished chewing up the sugars in the beer kits, the cider will have a bit more sugar so will go longer.

Cask went pop - what is maximum pressure?

Get hold of the CAMRA book Cellarmanship and use that . . . I'm not all that sure that taking advice on how to cask beer from an American is actually that bright an idea. Most breweries would not add priming to their casks and tend to cask a couple of points above final gravity. 17C is a bit...

    Oxi Clean

PBW is like oxiclean on steroids . . . I use it for serious cleaning on stuff I can't inspect visibly and scrub, or if I have a baked on biofilm . . . It's as good as a hot caustic wash . . . but much less dangerous. For usual cleaning I use Astonish Oxi from Wilkos . . .

THE BEST ELEMENT FOR THE JOB

I actually think This 3KW one would be better. If you wanted to, you could wire up each pair of terminals in either Series or Parallel with a Switch panel) you could then have various wattage configurations without the need for a power controller.

Gas burner, canister/tubing/fittings advice + availability

The standard for butane is 29mBar :thumb: . . . Yes the output from a butane system will be less than that for propane

Gas burner, canister/tubing/fittings advice + availability

If using propane (and I would always choose propane over butane ;) ) then the vast vast vast majority of burners are designed to use a low pressure regulator supplying butane at either 37 or 50 mBar. . . . Under NO circumstances should they be used with a high pressure regulator (1-4Bar), if you...

Corny O Ring seal kit in UK?

I got a load of silicone ORings from this company. Poppet o-rings Dip tube o-rings Post o-rings Lid o-rings The lid O Ring is only 5.3mm rather than the 8mm of a standard one, but being silicone it seals well. I pressurised one of my kegs to 6 psi and lifted the bail bar . . . . stayed sealed...

    Bottle cleanliness

Avoid it like the plague, apart from the issues with head retention . . . which require copious rinsing (which takes time). the cleansing agents in washing up liquid are not capable of dealing with the residues and bio films that form in bottles / fermenting equipment .. . . . It's designed for...
