    Electric cars.

And change to an EV only when the cheap tariffs have gone? Surely best to make use of these while you can.

Factor in the difference in servicing costs too 😉

    Electric cars.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. So much depends on how often and where you charge them. They are definitely not viable for everyone.

And another thing to consider is HOW you will be using public chargers. If you often travel beyond the range of your EV in a single day you will be using expensive rapid chargers but if your one way trip is within range and you need to charge to get home again you can usually use a slower...

    Bacon!

Most Bacon is now full of water. You fill a pan with three rashers then after a minute or two you think “hang on, I can fit another rasher in there”. Before you know it you’ve managed to get the whole pack of eight in 🤣

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I planted one each of Fuggles and Centenial three years ago. This is their fourth season. Fuggle is rampant in comparison to the Centenial.

I’m with OVO. They don’t do special EV tariffs like other companies who charge a lower rate at night in return for higher rates during the day. They just do normal tariffs (I’m on the standard variable) but you have an add on called Drive Anytime. It’s free but you need to have a smart meter and...

    Electric cars.

Going back to the subject of charging costs here is an example of how EVs are amazingly economical if you charge at home on an EV tariff and what a complete rip off they are if you need to charge away from home. So, a couple of weeks ago I bought a 2015 BMW i3 as a second car and for my...

    Using Lactose for Sweetening

I use Brewers Friend. Having made the adjustments to try to get an abv of 5% it predicted a OG of 1.054 and that was stop on.

    Using Lactose for Sweetening

I’ve only just seen this thread and ironically I made my first ever Milk Stout at the weekend. I followed this recipe which someone else had shared in a previous thread but scaled down the grist to hopefully end up with something closer to 5% abv than 7%...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Maybe a couple of weeks later than ideal but I finally got my twine up ready for this years crop of Centenial and Fuggles. Ignore the hazelnut tree in the foreground.

The BMW i3 was built from scratch is is really light. It has a carbon fibre shell and all the panels are plastic.

    Leaking gas lines

I use the stiff tubing but if the bends are too sharp you need to use angled connectors
