What sort of results should I expect from something like this?
3.6kg Amber malt extract (liquid)
Citra 14g - 60 min - boil
Citra 28g - 20 min - boil
Citra 71g - 0 min - aroma
Citra 57g - 3 days - dry hop
Does anyone have any idea what this would turn out like? Or any general advice on...
Hi guys
Got lots of this Amber malt extract, around 50kg in total.
Anyone got any good hoppy IPA recipes that I can brew up with this Amber malt extract?
Would prefer not to add other grains in or do partial grain as I’m really just looking to use this up, though I’d consider it.
They...
Just had a look at that Williams warn counter pressure bottle filler and it looks a great piece of kit for £160! I wonder what pressures this can withstand though?
I did add the blend of pot met and sir are at the end of fermentation.
Bet it was way easier to use the crown caps rather than...
Is it actually oxidisation or is it just the wine kit though? Because I compared the sparkling wine that I made from the MYO white wine kit and compared it to a still MYO white kit that I bottled last year. They were practically the same colour.
It’s by no means a super dark yellow or anything...
I started with a Range MYO white wine kit. Added some extra sugar and swapped the yeast for EC-1118. Decided not to add the oak chips as I wanted to make a sparkling wine similar to Prosecco so light in colour.
I fermented this kit from 1.103 to 0.998 and added stabiliser and finning A and B...
Picked up a bunch of these bottles a few weeks ago and I’ve done several tests on them since.
I’m talking of these

At just 75p each they are very cheap!
They don’t hold pressure whatsoever out of the box but...
Just brewed up a festival American IPA kit and it said to add the hops on day 5 or 6.
I’m now brewing in my aquarium room which with over 2000 gallons of aquarium water the room never drops below 28 Celsius. Now that I’m fermenting in this room the average temperature of my fermenters is 26...
Well it was left in the fermenter Thursday till Saturday so 3 days. It seemed to taste fine upon kegging though it had turned at least one or two shades darker!
It’s now much darker than a Mexican cerveza and more amber in colour.
Now it’s been put in a keg and forced carbonated at 30psi will...
I’m honestly pretty new to this whole beer thing having brewed wine for many of years.
For me, fermentation ending would mean adding in a nice dose of campden tablets and potassium sorbate to keep the brew fresh while it clears for up to a week. Obviously this isn’t the case with beer as we...
So the plan so far is as follows.
100 litre polsineli stainless steel vessel.
Heating elements directly through side of vessel about 5 inches from base. Undecided on whether to use kettle elements or how much power I can safely run.
100 litre grain BIAB bag
False base that is around 47cm in...
Wow so would I honestly not be able to run 2 x 2.2kw kettle elements at once?
Even if I plugged them both in separate sockets in separate rooms?
Would just be a slight issue as 2.2kw in a 100 litre kettle is nothing!
Well after reading your post I done some research and it seems a quick check of the malt miller reveals 100 litre biab bags!! I’m shocked haha!
When you say a joist what does this mean exactly? Do you mean a false bottom or similar to keep the bag off the elements and the base of the kettle...
The only reason I was considering kettle elements is because they come with a gasket and a flange which allows them to be mounted into the kettle without welding or soldering.
Though I do see your point and I will have a look at some websites for home brew elements that come with weldless...
So I’m looking into getting started with all grain brewing and I would like to make myself a sort of all in one brewing system similar to the grainfather. I would settle for a biab setup but I doubt you can go this large with biab?
The container I want to use for my all in one brewing system is...
.
Bought this earlier in the year as a project to starting a small gin brand though due to the paperwork and expenses the project never came through. I bought the setup from a distillery in the UK.
I’ve never actually distilled alcohol using this setup just done a small test of water to make...
