    Gushing!

I've two batches recently brewed both neipa and gushing. I'm guessing it's too much sugar at bottle priming. I used a new measure, very consistent but inaccurate. I need some tips for getting the beer into glasses. I've tried removing and recapping. Even from the fridge, the beer just turns...

    Wilko Feeling Hoppy

I have started drinking my 'feeling hoppy' now. Its been in the shed a month. I have been adding water to my kits using a hanging electronic scale . I just found out its reading light so I reckon I added at least 2 extra litres of water. I cant help feeling it tastes a bit watery but still a...

    Car tax & insurance.

I insured an old banger for my daughters to learn to drive. They insured the cars on an hourly basis for lessons. we used Veygo. an Admiral brand. As the owner I got a message to confirm the insurance and if there ever was an accident my no claims wasn't affected. once they passed the test...

    Wilko Feeling Hoppy

What is it about the Wilco kits that gives them such a light sediment? As others have said the hop sachet is a bit mean but I've just bottled one of those feeling hoppy kits and after two weeks in fermenting it's so clear already and significant difference in amount of sediment to the fancy...

Poured 29 bottles down the sink today.

I did a Gozdawa christmas beer four years ago. 60 x 330ml bottles I really didn't like it but couldn't bring myself to throw it away. Out of curiosity I tried one a few weeks back My taste may have changed I enjoyed it.

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

I'm enjoying a surprisingly good wilco christmas limited edition winter ale artisan kit. Im having more success with these budget kits than a lot of the fancy premium kits. particularly the tiny amount of sediment . two days in the warm and 7 in the shed. This one came with a sachet of...

    grow your own beer.

I was asked this morning if I wanted one of these for my birthday. https://www.notonthehighstreet.com/plantsfromseed/product/grow-your-own-beer-plant Its got me quite angry. Imagine that feeling trying as you attempt to smile politely at this well intentioned gift. I am posting this here so...

    Gozdawa extract beer kits

I did the christmas beer a few years ago. I didnt like it much and left about 40 330ml bottles in the shed. Got desperate recently and tried a few. very strong polish dark beer has matured I believe. Not a beer I enjoy but I am pleased with the general quality.

    Xmas Beer

That is right, no additional sugar but I have seen people on this forum discussing adding more sugar and water. I have done this now by simply making up to a finished volume of 7 litres. hopefully ill report back in a few months.

    Xmas Beer

I can see this is an old thread. Brewferm have changed the name from Christmas Ale to Winter ale. I have a query about the instructions. the can weighs 1.5 kilos. the kit is supposed to make up 7 litres. the instructions say to add three litres of water and no sugar. surely that only makes...

    Storing bottled beer

Hi ColinG, the less head space the less volume of pressurised gas there is to propel bits of glass . if the contents are mostly liquid then if the glass breaks you just get froth as the gas bubbles out of the liquid. In my case I had around a third of a bottle of compressed gas and two thirds...

    Bottle aging/conditioning

A side comment. I noticed this yesterday and was looking for somewhere to say it. I have a note book going back to 2014 with all the beer I brew from kits. I write something simple on each cap for identification . I found a few bottles of BSA, its belgian special ale I produced in 2015, ive a...

    Storing bottled beer

I had one bottle bomb in the house. I always keep all my bottles out in the shed, in crates. I had some pals round and lined some bottles up on a shelf in the room where we were all sat. I had a few 330ml bottles of Rhubarb sparkling wine, had intended tham as a bit of a late treat. One of...
