Anyone up for some bulk hops?

I have lived in France for more than twenty years and brewed beer for most of that time using US and UK classic hops. I recently started using some french and german types mostly because they were cheap and have to say I don't know why the aren't more popular. I brewed a single hop IPA with...

Anyone up for some bulk hops?

Sorry if I am a bit late mentioning it but when I buy a fairly big quantity of hops I have bought from these people. https://www.hops-comptoir.com/ If the site comes up in french just click on the "en" near the top and you get the english site. They are a farmers co-operative in the Alsace...

    What do you ferment in?

Really impressed by these. https://www.braumarkt.com/en/gistingsvat-60-l-wit-groen-kraan-waterslot I have two at the moment. They have a proper screw down lid. They did bigger ones too!

25 Kg Diablo Kit 74 euros

Apparently the Diablo has all gone so they have replaced it with a pils kit for €70. This kit is exactly the same product as Brewferm Pilsner 1.7Kg kits just in a bigger pack with no yeast. I think they are made by Muntons but not (as far as I know) sold in the UK. There are two recipes just the...

25 Kg Diablo Kit 74 euros

Perhaps of limited interest to those in the UK but Brouwland have the big Brewferm Diablo kits on offer for 74 euros. https://www.brouwland.com/en/stock-sale/d/beer-kit-brewferm-diabolo-25-kg-without-yeast I brew these kits really short (120 litres) and they are a great drop.

    The price of grain

I farm, but not in the UK, (Central France) and this has been a dreadful year for most crops. However the best malt is made from spring barley and its been a (probably) average year for spring crops, most reports seem to say that they are not too bad anyway. However bear in mind that very...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

I know. But I need a reference point to know that my beer tastes OK. All I can buy here is europ*ss. Its a warmish night here so went with my Zeus dry hopped pale ale. Lovely.

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Well I was thinking I was going to be drinking one of these But when you live in rural france and word gets out that lidl does a selection of British Ales it sells out fast so its back to the homebrew.

    Decent 5L jug?

    This is the one https://www.pressol.com/schmiertechnik/?lang=en#!/c/89/s/90/i/2328/07065

    Decent 5L jug?

I got fed up with floppy plastic jugs so now I use one that came from an agricultural supplier. It was designed for agrochemical use so is both strong and well calibrated. It also holds 5 litres without getting any where near full.

Dry Hop in Standard Plastic Pressure Barrel

So has anybody come up with a good way to do this in the bog standard pressure barrels? I have tried different bags but the 2 inch hole in the top makes getting a bag in near impossible let alone getting the things out again. A good sized tea ball would be a good shout but does one exist that...

What's your view on Plastic Pressure Barrels (PBs)?

Never quite finished the previous post, I am new to this forum game! I can buy bottled beer but draught is what I want to drink, it would be pointless without a barrel.

What's your view on Plastic Pressure Barrels (PBs)?

For my first 15 years of home brewing I never used a bottle only barrels. I have recently started using bottles because I brew too much and need to give some away. I definitely would not brew beer if I wasn't using plastic pressure barrels. Where are people having problems? I

What's your view on Plastic Pressure Barrels (PBs)?

I have a dozen or so and use them all. The cheap "standard" ones have rarely given any trouble and some of mine are ten years old. If I have trouble it's usually the King Kegs, I will never buy another.

    Any decent Belgian kits?

I would try brewing Brewferm kits really short . None of them I have tried are that bitter so would stand being brewed short. I have brewed the Brewferm Abbey (now called Dubble) at around 5-6 litres per tin without any other additions and its dark and malty and tastes probably stronger than...
