Can any Lincs based brewers recommend a local CO2 supplier please? No Adams stockists anywhere near and delivery charges very steep from Adams & the other big suppliers. I own a 2kg cylinder for exchange or refill.
My previous supplier is a 4 hour round trip away. I’m in Mablethorpe.
Just adding my two penn’orth as I did my first Gen 4 brew on Monday. The mash control with PID and 100% heat was near perfect for a first effort. For the boil I just set it to 101C which resulted in very little cycling then dialled back to 100.1 which kept a rolling boil.
I’ve just done my first brew on a Gen 4 35l - 23l Wards Bitter kit from WHS. My previous AIO was a 45l Hopcat.
I went in at the deep end, buying a bundle including the HED and jacket and using PID heating control with the Bluetooth Rapt thermometer.
First impressions: heating to strike...
That’s one benefit of a refractometer - they bounce!
I was using my trusty brewing thermometer to calibrate my new BZ a few days back and caught it a slight tap against the side. Off came the bulb 😫 .
Before it departed this life it did at least show the Bluetooth Rapt thermometer was as...
Back to AG for me - yay! First brew on my new 35l BZ Gen 4. Wards Best Bitter from WHS. Great brew day, although the cleaning up is a pain as I’m confined to brewing outside by SWMBO. If the beer tastes as good as the wort it’s going to be a very good pint 🍻
I cut my teeth on a mainframe and dumb terminals. The big iron was upgraded to a 100Mb disk stack - cutting edge. When personal computing came along it was a Research Machines 380Z (Z80 processor with 128k Ram) running CP/M and Rockwell 6502-based machines with a single line LED matrix display...
Having sold my 45l Hopcat last year due to moving house, I’ve pulled the trigger on a 35l Brewzilla Gen 4 full bundle from BKT. Hopefully the meagre dead space won’t cause me any issues during recirculation. First up will be a clone of Wards Sheffield Best Bitter.
I used to meddle with magnetos when I had vintage stationery engines. I’m from quite an academic background and never had any mechanical aptitude. Playing with a Lister or Wolseley was a great learning experience.
