Some new hops need some new ideas please!

Aurora are not the same as other Styrian hops. I think the original Syrians were Fuggles, Celeia is bred from Fuggle, and Aurora and Bobek were bred from Northern Brewer. I'd say Aurora is the most different. I agree with the Saison idea. For a red, I might be tempted to try pairing Taiheke and...

Some new hops need some new ideas please!

Taiheke is the name for Cascades grown in NZ. Pale ale? I've not used them. Motueka is bred from Saaz, and does suit a lager. Pale ale too. I like them. Pair well with Nelson but are milder, gentler. I've used Aurora a few times, fruitier than Styrians, I just mix them with other hops in...

    Brupak Colne Valley Bitter

Ok. But it does sound like the fermentation is poor, so you need to think about the yeast you use.

    Brupak Colne Valley Bitter

Never brewed it but it sounds like there's a yeast issue. I don't know if the yeast has changed in any way but maybe it's down to the how the kit is stored by the seller. Perhaps sales have slowed and the kits are older when you get them. It would cost more to buy a replacement yeast but could...

    New Fresh Ale category claimed

The places in Manchester where I drink cask seem to sell it quickly enough. Fresh ale could work for places where that isn't the case. Instead of saying "brewery conditioned" on the pumps, why can't they put "filtered keg ale". Be totally honest about it.

That's not arguing for one thing though is it? One form of English ale. I was just agreeing with Camra's assertion that fresh ale should be served from keg taps to provide a clear distinction because hand pulls are so strongly associated with cask ale. But I also said "I think", because I'm not...

I've no idea how you construe that sentence to be arguing for one thing tbh. I am undecided on this matter and am only discussing it to get my head round it. I can see the value of the fresh ale idea. I also like cask conditioned ale and I would like it to remain widely available, in a format...

Yes I'm not trying to argue for one thing. But I think the value of cask conditioning is perhaps under appreciated. My feeling is that I like English ales, I want them widely available, and I'd like to be able to get cask conditioned versions, but fresh ale sounds good for situations where cask...
