    U.K v US

NHS guidelines already say that such drugs should no longer be prescribed for obvious reasons. What's **** is that we are destroying the NHS by a thousand cuts until the point that people cry that it is no longer fit for purpose. Under the latest round of US changes rape is a preexisting...

    Can't make a hoppy beer

Starting to get intrested in Brewing has made me spend more on beer not less. :( I'm now more intrested in trying different styles and types of beers including the 330ml bottles I used to shun as poor value. Including that bloody Punk IPA which tastes rather good.

10 days into bottle conditioning and still flat

Thank you. It was a Youngs kit that was rated highly on here. More worrying I've got a couple more on the go made from cheap kits with added LME that was also cheap, although one is a coopers. Think all I can do is bottle them and leave alone for a good while (hard). That said I'm away at the...

10 days into bottle conditioning and still flat

Hmm. Not promising. I've got 110 pints made to drink this way. I'm certainly game for trying extract brewing and maybe a partial mash, not using cheap LME and switching to DME, but much as I love the idea of All Grain, I honestly don't have the time and would probably have to just keep...

    DME usage

I've been dumping it in to the pan of boiling water before adding it to the cold. Hopefully this should work as I've now 80 pints I've got sitting it FVs with this method.

10 days into bottle conditioning and still flat

It carbonated. :) Still not sure what I think. It worked, has alcohol, tastes kinda like beer. Think I may now know what that homebrew "twag" is. That said been out all night drinking expensive craft beer so it's a hard test, but one it has to meet to make this whole project worth it. Next...

    extract or all grain

Thanks. I'm not that bothered about cloning commercial beers, just making ones I enjoy drinking. Does skipping the grain then also speed up the process? I like all the beers you've listed (and would love to do a wheat one). Are their any good sites for recipes doing brews using extract?

    extract or all grain

Thank you. So if the Malt gives something to for the yeast to turn to alcohol as well as a "fuller" beer and the hops add flavour and aroma what are the grains doing? Are they also flavour? If your adding cold water to the wort does this remove the need to cool it?

    Doubling kits into 1 fv

I use a 1.5kg can of Liquid Malt Extract and a bit of Brewing sugar costs about £6 rather then the price of a whole extra kit.

    extract or all grain

I'm very new, but am interested in taking it further. Sadly I can't see myself having the time to do All Grain very often, so would like to learn some extract Brewing techniques. Can anyone point in the direction of a good link to how it's done. Mostly it seems to be AG or kits.

ANOTHER new range of dried yeasts

Thank you, I'll certainly try some different yeasts. CML seems like the cheaper option and they were very nice when I ordered some hops from them. :)

ANOTHER new range of dried yeasts

Nice. Is that the fermentation temperature or the room temperature. I'm thinking as mine are close, but not quite there that using a different yeast may be easier then setting up barrels full of water with heaters in.

ANOTHER new range of dried yeasts

Do any of their yeast work at slightly lower temperatures?

    Aldi Ales

I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that bottles with stupid glue don't deserve to have my home brew in.

    Aldi Ales

I've noticed, certainly with the smaller ones, that the glue used to on the labels is pretty sticky and cleaning them so they are residue free is hard work!
