What country makes the best beer?

Had a made who went a few years ago, he sampled well over 100 different beers as you can buy in 1oz/30ml serving.

What country makes the best beer?

It is the USA for me, so much great beer to go at and in every style possible, often with an american twist. I really enjoy NEIPAs, WCIPAs, Black IPAs which are all modern USA styles. they have the best hops too imo. They have been leading the way for a good while now. UK is second, Belgium third.

    Flavour boosts or Essences

I've had good results using LorAnn flavourings previously. Typically peanut butter stout, coconut porter etc.

    Your First Beer

Early 80's, about 8yo. Me tough as boots ad grandma was baby sitting. "Grandma, cana hava taste ayea beer?" She always drank Newcastle brown from a proper 1/2 pint schooner glass. Aye, ganon then. Spat it oot. Thought it was horrid, put me off beer for another 8 years! made her chuckle though...

Top mashing with dark grain - does it work?

Another vote for cold steeping, its has worked well for me and is easy to do. I'm not a fan of porters/stouts being too burnt and roasty, its like drinking the liquid from a beer garden ashtray on a wet and rainy day.

Recommend me a low alcohol (1% or less) commercial brew

I drink a bit of Nanny State and Punk AF, which i think are really good for AF beers (and a good price when bough direct from Brewdog). There are lots of AF beers to try these days. I've tried making my own low alchol beers by cold steeping the grains, worked well for mouthfeel, but needs more...

Just a drier Jan for me after a very wet Dec. Will be supping some AF beers too. I quite like Brewdog's Nanny State.

    Sprouts.

My kids aren't keen on them, so I make them sound better. Who wants 'Mini Christmas Cabbage' or 'Green Sports Candy?' I did read a few years ago that some modern varieties aren't as bitter as they used to be.

    Automatic gearbox

I think manuals are dead, they'll linger on still for years to come, but modern autos and EVs are so much better. I drive an EV and a manual 4x4, but it'll be an auto then its replaced. Its best that learners pass the manual test as it gives them more options, but some will find this hard when...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

My latest brew, a Blackberry porter. I added a little lactose to take the edge of the tart blackberries and it has worked out really well.

    Hop choice

Fuggles, challenger, and bramling cross are the 3 English hops i use mostly, very versatile in a range of styles

    All grain 5ltr

It should work fine, that it how I started on AG. I had a 12L stock pot, 5l fermenter, a bag and a sieve. I also used to put the pot in the oven to keep the temp on the mash steady ( a low setting). The beers always turn out great, so i invested in better bigger safer equipment.
