I did the St Peters Ruby red kit, 9 months in the bottle and it was almost a Punk IPA. I say almost, as it was actually better than Punk!

Did this kit in Feb 15 and put a few bottles away for keepseys as I thought it was good then. WOW, just WOW. 9 months in the bottle and it honestly tastes like Punk IPA which has to be one of the nicest bottled beers around. Needless to say my secret stash is no more!

It must be down to the amount of yeast supplied in the kit, I weighed it out at around 23g which is over double the usual amount. Mind you with the 4.7kg LME that comes with the kit it needs it!

Hi Kev Not done a cider before but I've read to use about 2 teaspoons per 500ml bottle so your probably looking at 3-4 teaspoons per litre.

Wont topping up halfway through fermentation make the OG reading obsolete? How do you accurately calculate the %?
