    Brewdog Punk IPA

I did the St Peters Ruby red kit, 9 months in the bottle and it was almost a Punk IPA. I say almost, as it was actually better than Punk!

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

Did this kit in Feb 15 and put a few bottles away for keepseys as I thought it was good then. WOW, just WOW. 9 months in the bottle and it honestly tastes like Punk IPA which has to be one of the nicest bottled beers around. Needless to say my secret stash is no more!

Easy way to sterilise glass bottles

Interesting thread. Been kit brewing now for nearly 3 years and I've tried kegs but I've never managed to get a complete 40 pints out without about 25% spoilage, so I always bottle now. I have to say I dislike bottling day just because of the sterlising time, but I will load up the oven when...

    Evil dog hops.

Cloudy is usual, but it can be greatly reduced by syphoning off to a second bucket (secondary) for a further week and stored on a cold floor once activity has stopped if you have any patience. Bits floating in it shows that its not really finishing fermenting yet as most yeast falls to the...

    Evil dog hops.

When you add it to the keg you will need to add the sugar for carbination, usually about 100g in half a pint of boiled water. When you eventually come to drink the beer and about half of it has gone, it will create a vacuum in the keg (you will notice the flow of beer slowing). This is when...

    Evil dog hops.

Sounds like its doing what it should be doing. I know its difficult but try and leave it be. When the airlock has stopped for 2-3 days take a reading with the hydrometer, if its below 1010 then you can add the teabags.

    Newbie looking for equipment advice

Even though its much more of a hassle, its bottles all the way for me. It always tastes better, and I have lost a few batches through leaky kegs just like the one shown in amazon. Don't bother just buying the bottles, buy bottles with beer in, drink it and reuse the bottles. That way the...

How low can an FG go?

It must be down to the amount of yeast supplied in the kit, I weighed it out at around 23g which is over double the usual amount. Mind you with the 4.7kg LME that comes with the kit it needs it!

How low can an FG go?

It tastes fine for a brew going to bottle, 2 hop tea bags went in 24 hours before bottling. As I said, tested the hydrometer in water after and it was spot on 1000, not experienced anything like this before.

How low can an FG go?

As the title says, Just bottled my Evil Dog Double IPA, OG was 1060 FG 1000. I took 3 readings as I'm paranoid I got it wrong, even took a reading from tap water to confirm. Just amazed really as I added in 2 extra litres to lower the % a bit as the box reckoned it should be 7.2% I managed...

    priming cider

Hi Kev Not done a cider before but I've read to use about 2 teaspoons per 500ml bottle so your probably looking at 3-4 teaspoons per litre.

    Noob trying a turbo cider.

Wont topping up halfway through fermentation make the OG reading obsolete? How do you accurately calculate the %?

    Noob trying a turbo cider.

Just bought 4ltr of Apple juice (from concentrate) and a litre of cranberry & pomegranate. Will add a cup of tea (2 bags) and some tomato puree to get the yeast going but I have a couple of questions. In one TC recipe I read, it says to do 3 litres first, then add the yeast, wait a week and...

Festival Golden Stag Summer Ale Review

Halfway through drinking my second batch of this and just had to go out and buy another one. This is perfect for summer drinking. I've also bought a large tin of golden syrup which will also be in the mix this time. Looking to up the % closer to 5%
