    Free bottles -Colchester

Not really, they are just in my garage at the moment. Just thought I'd offer them here before sending them to recycling. They do need a clean, but they are currently in Pampers boxes  They do stack well and they can fit 12 bottles in each so the do a good job. They are even secure...

    Free bottles -Colchester

Due to a reduction in production, I have about 120 bottles surplus to requirements. All the same, no labels, I bought them from a local brewery. Free to whoever can collect. They are boxed but if you have your own that would be great as I'd prefer to keep the boxes if possible.

Thanks, very helpful. Will give it a go when I finish the Ghost Ship I have on the go at the moment

    Easy Keg 5L

Thanks for your help. I may just buy some kegs from Adnams with some beer in them and take care when removing the bung.

    Easy Keg 5L

Ghost ship has the red centre. Are these reusable? I was under the impression that they were a pain to remove so you pretty much had to destroy it to get it out properly. Not sure what the kegs from Leyland have as there is no picture of the top but they claim to be reusable. Also, is there...

    Easy Keg 5L

Can I just check those from Leyland are the same as the ones you get from the supermarkets, except they have a reusable plug? No additional equipment needed? Also, if I wanted to reuse the Ghost Ship keg I have, would the bung be one of these...

    Don't want to brag but..........

76 bottles filled, all the cleaning up done and everything put away in just over an hour  And a lot of that time was waiting for the 2nd batch of beer to rack to the bottling bucket. There is a lot to be said for rinsing and cleaning bottles out after use each time. A quick rinse...

    Strange phenomenom

I've got 2 brews in the fridge currently sitting at 3 degrees (the fridge won't get them lower). They have been there since last Saturday. I took samples of each one earlier to see how clear they are and how the dryhopping is going, and noticed that brew 2 has gone a lot darker than before...

    Ferrari Emily replacement cup

Are the metal ones better? I don't want to spend £30 on one if I can help it, but don't want to keep replacing them. Had the same issue with a black Wilko one as well.

    Ferrari Emily replacement cup

Actually I've just looked at it and I think it's the metal bits that hold the bottle that have bent. I've tried flattening them down with a hammer which has worked, but the plastic bit they fit into is also bent. Gutted, I thought I had saved myself nearly £30 then

    Ferrari Emily replacement cup

I have the red Emily twin handle capper and it doesn't work as well as it used to. When I cap a bottle I have to wiggle the capper to get it to seal properly, and then rotate the bottle 90degrees to ensure it is properly sealed. If I don't do this there are no indentations on the cap at all...

    BIAB Buffalo 40l equipment question

I used the existing tap when I had mine. Was a bit of a pain as you had to stand there and hold it open though but it didn't take that long. I made a hop filter very cheaply using some flexible copper pipe from screwfix, less than £10 and slotted right in the back of the tap. Followed...

    Bench cappers

Cheers, just looked at that one but with £7 shipping it's about the same as my LHBS, plus the LHBS is easier to return if something goes wrong. Looks like it will be a worthwhile investment though as I've had 3 twin handle cappers go wrong so hopefully I can find one that will last some time.
