can I use 3/16 for gas AND beer line?

So would 3/8th be good from Regulator to manifold, then 3/16 from manifold to individual kegs?

    Re-using yeast from current brew

This is what I have done in the past when I've painstakingly cultured up a yeast from bottles, and had a successful brew so know the yeast is good (as well as top cropping, but that's a different topic). I leave an inch or so of beer in the FV on top of the yeast. This is swilled around...

    Cleaning stained demi johns

Not too hot water, though. Demijohns don't like thermal shock!

    After dry January...

I've done dry January several times, and have never felt any beneficial effects as regards sleep, or indeed weight which is odd. I've given it up as a bad idea. I tend not to drink Mon - Thurs but I'm not fanatic about it, if I get invited to a birthday do or something on those days I'll...

    Digital thermometer recommendation

To be fair, apart from the mash tun, all other readings would be taken through thermowells

    Digital thermometer recommendation

So, the Thermopen seems to be getting a lot of love. I've just checked and I've got some Amazon vouchers to use so that might be a good option as they seem to sell them.

    Digital thermometer recommendation

My digi thermometer (no brand Chinese thing) takes an absolute age to read temperature. Like a few mins. Zzzzzzzz.... So, can anyone recommend a digi thermometer that reads quickly, has a reputation for accuracy, and bonus points if fairly common so I can be a tight **** and look out for a...

    What are you drinking 2024.

In the fanzone at Town with the youngest daughter, Docks Beer Overtime lager. Not to bad. Just need Town to thrash the Yorkies now..

    What are you drinking 2024.

Na, my erratic brewing schedule doesn't really mix with liquid yeasts. If I get a chance to brew, I just need to brew which makes starters often impossible. So for this brew, I looked at the expected FG and attenuation and used a mix of CML Firm + House. Finished at 1.021 so not too far off...

1885 William Younger 100/- A @patto1ro recipe. It's absolutely bang on. Lightly naturally carbed in cornie.

    Make mine a Mockeson

Blimey! I know a few ales dropped down to 2.8% for tax reasons (and may now creep back up for the same reasons) but that's a drop and a half. Looks like the war started Makesons on a bit of a downward trajectory (figures from Ron's blog) followed by a bit of a rally : 1939 4.7 1940 4.63...

    Make mine a Mockeson

I think I'd be inclined to brew one of Ron's Makesons recipes, given they are from actual brewing records. The pre war ones look interesting.

    Aldi Coffee Stout

Aldis beer selection is a bit hit and miss. It used to be better, in my opinion. I keep looking at this and thinking I might have it a try, but then opt for their knock off Hobgoblin (which I think is more like the original Hobgoblin than the current real Hobgoblin if you see what I mean) or a...
