It's worth the mess :thumb:
There is no denying the fact that it isn't the cleanest brew to make but it does taste amazing

Well, that's it, job done.....
Added a good tablespoon of sucralose to the liquor to back sweeten and left it to fall through for a week....Today was the day I bottled it up :)
46g of Brewing sugar was dissolved in water before the ginger beer was syphoned onto this priming solution. This...
Well, the proof is in the drinking....And I am VERY pleasantly surprised.....It is gorgeous :thumb:
Even the better half (who doesn't like ale) tried a bit and commented on how nice it was.
I think we'll chalk that one to a win :)
With a Ginger Beer, I want a good fizz. An ale I'll use about 35g which gives a good carbonation for an ale at 5 litres :thumb:
According to the Brewers friend thingy, that'll give me a carbonation of around 3.0

So this has now fermented out and smells pretty damned good if I say so myself. I suppose the next stage is to rack it into a new demijohn and let it secondary ferment and mellow a bit, leaving the yeast to clean up after themselves.
Plan to make a solution of hot water and Spenda (or the Tesco...
Pmsl! I totally missed that one... Unlike me ;)
I'm hoping to put my new brew into one to get it carbonated and matured before my first show in July... It's busy bubbling at the moment so should be ready for the secondary this weekend..... I'm actually looking forward to seeing how these get...
Well, just ordered a starter kit with 3 barrels, a beer king co2 tap, 5 cartridges and the reuseable rubber bungs..... It was on offer at one of the online brew stores I normally use so I thought "why not?" :thumb:

This is true.... Although there is something that just feels wrong about that.... Technically there is nothing wrong with it, maybe it's just me being a ponce

I'm considering the co2 ones as I'd like it to cover all eventualities.... So when I'm not at a show I can still keg it and use it over a week or 2....its the show thing that has got me thinking though and it's looking like a great solution

OK, so they are primed as usual but with a co2 cartridge system to keep it "fresh". It'll be used in a weekend (in fact I doubt it would last a day).....
Glad to hear the cleaning isn't too bad.... I also didn't realise you can recycle the supermarket mini kegs which is handy....
I'm really...
Rather surprisingly, it seems the initial whoosh didn't last long at all.... The airlock is going mental but there is no head any more.... Might top it up tonight....
I do need to get some pet bottles though.... Wilkinson seem to have a 24 pack of the coopers ones for ã8 at the moment so...
Morning peeps..... I'd like to pick your brains if that's OK?
So I now have my second micro brew bubbling away nicely in the demiJohn and that's got me thinking.... What would be a good way to transport these?
I do a lot of weekend car shows where we camp, have a few drinks etc but it is...
Yup, 5 litre demiJohn so a small batch.... OG is about 1.045 and I'm shooting for about a FG of 1.005 making it about 5.25%.....its all about the taste though and this one should be a belter

So the show season is starting up and along with it we have the traditional Chilli challenges. I have already done the Nitrous Cider but that won't be ready until the show in September....Time to break out a new recipe and spice up some ginger beer with a bit of Ghost Pepper ;)
475g fresh...
